The only thing I take from this is that Eddie wouldn't be doing this if he wasn't worried. Should be a great game!

That was my memory of it as well. AWJ only arrived at the scene after the ref had stopped Russell taking the conversion. I couldn't be arsed looking for the footage though. Still never let the truth stand in the way of an EJ wind up, or it seems some posters taking EJ as gospel.MrK wrote:https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rug ... s-14268068
Unsurprising headlines but an alternative take on the AWJ try incident.

I loved the way Nigel ensured that IRB official was going to take the torrent of shite. Quality.

Yeah. Good, isn't it....?. Fun.Timbo wrote:The whole build up is getting on my nerves now. If I see one more mention of Scarlets beating Bath, like it has some sort of relevance...
One thing Jones does have right though, is that Wales have been pretty crap for 2 and a half years, and now after one good game they’ve built their own narrative that they’re on a roll.

Re: Jones v. Jones
We are all used to Jones mouthing off to the media before games. This case is slightly different in that he has made an actual complaint to World Rugby, the governing body of the sport, taking the whole business above the usual tabloid banter level into the realms of "official". I do not know what he expects World Rugby to do about this, or even if they are empowered to do anything. Is he looking for some kind of reprimand or ban for WJ, or what? Anywhow - I see it as a step beyond the usual bad mouthing and (if you read his interview) an obviously blatant attempt to influence Ref Garces.

all I can find is that England rugby made an enquiry to World Rugby, likely to check if they could do the same themselves.Spiffy wrote:We are all used to Jones mouthing off to the media before games. Every coach tries to influence refs, both publicly and in private, assuming you are serious about this.
(and before you get assaulted by Caldey again, its AWJ, AW, or J, but not WJ

Must’ve missed this. The only narrative I’ve seen has been media driven. The only mention of being on a roll has been jones and you. Good narrative you have there mind.Timbo wrote:The whole build up is getting on my nerves now. If I see one more mention of Scarlets beating Bath, like it has some sort of relevance...

The original Irish Independent article I read stated that Jones "lodges a complaint" with World Rugby. This would be different from just making an enquiry, but I don't know which version, if either, is true. I'm sure I do overreact to this kind of stuff and feel there is no need for it, in what has always been (until the past few years) a good competition characterized by traditional sportsmanship on all sides (Yes - I know I'm living in the past.) Read that, reports vary. I'm with you on the sportsmanship piece, especially on the pitch, ship looks to have sailed though.Spiffy wrote:The original Irish Independent article I read stated that Jones "lodges a complaint" with World Rugby. Having said all that, the 5n was a pretty brutal tournament from time to time, and sportsmanship has sometimes not been a feature

That's not important right now. The important thing is to consider the Scarlets Bath matchup a few weeks back..Timbo wrote:Hooky wrote:Must’ve missed this. I actually think this could be a real cracker. Both teams have a lot of talent, and some weaknesses.

Re: Jones v. Jones
Eddie Jones makes a song and dance over nothing about AWJ after the Wales v. Scotland game to try and gain some cheap advantage points. But when World Wugby has something to say after the event re. Englandv Wales about a non-awarded try, he gets on his high horse and splutters that nothing should be said about games that are over, done and dusted; and that these kinds of comments cannot be tolerated. If you are looking for morons, look no further. He sounded a daft tit on the subject of Mike Brown last weekend too.kk67 wrote:Stop being morons.
