He was an integral part of one of the best club back rows for a season or two - with Johnson and Hughes. Their attacking effectiveness defied logic at times. A classic case of the unit exceeding the sum of its parts, really - more or less, the story of Haskell.

Personally, whilst he had a very good career by any measure, I think he didn't deliver on the raw potential he showed when first at Wasps. He didn't really develop his skill set, and took ages to become even a semi-decent decision maker.Oakboy wrote:He was an integral part of one of the best club back rows for a season or two - with Johnson and Hughes. James had all the raw ingredients to become a great backrower. But he was just a tad wanting when it came to rugby smarts. Close, but no cigar. He had a pretty good careeer nonetheless. Fair play to him.

4th out the jungle game thing. 'too many z-listers' being the cry as viewing figures plummet.
Smart move actually as he'll get to stay in sunny Oz for a few more weeks with his other 'arf as the show lumbers on.Tick in the box, next stop MMA.

Re: The Final Hask
I thought it was a shame he didn’t develop his no.8 game more. His pace and go forward off the back of the scrum was a real asset on the odd occasions during MJ tenure when he played there. He just needed to develop the ball control aspects at the set piece. That notwithstanding post Richard Hill and Pre Robshaw I would say he was England’s best blindside flanker.Spiffy wrote:James had all the raw ingredients to become a great backrower. He was playing at 7 when he did that. He wouldn’t have done if he’d been playing at 6 or 8

It’s the instinct of a hard carrying 6/8 to run into things rather than around thenmorepork wrote:This is the dude wot runs into the post, right?
