Quins pretty abject. Saints mostly good.

Really impressed by Grayson. Composed and accurate in attack and surprisingly solid in defence.

Furbank is putting together a really good run. Obviously very early days, I hope it continues as it would be great to have another option at 15 for England.

I was very impressed with Grayson. One iffy pass aside, he does have a lovely set of hands on him. I wonder if he'll overtake Marcus Smith as the coming man at 10, who I've found very disappointing since his breakout season.

Yes. The fly half battle between Smith, Grayson, Simmonds and possibly Malins as well will be interesting to see over the next few years.

I think you’re being a little harsh on Smith. He definitely suffered from ‘second season syndrome’ last year, but having watched him a lot, I think at least some of that was down to the way Quins were playing. Care was effectively running the show and we were playing off 9 most of the time which normally meant that Smith seemed to feel like had to force it or doing something spectacular every time he got the ball. His best games were typically with Mulchrone or Hidalgo-Clyne when he was given the opportunity to run the game his way. Obviously that’s no excuse for a pretty dire performance last night (playing with Landajo) but I thought it was worth sharing as wider context.
