Baxter certainly answered the criticism re playing the returning internationals. Programming in a break at the convenience of player + family so that a proper rest is achieved seems a common sense approach that should be applauded.

Baxter use of internationals didn't really help Exeter though.
He can spin it how he likes in terms of break at the player convenience, the reality is he wanted them back to play in both Europe games and needed a pre game warm up for them.

Followed on Twitter and was expecting a battering at half time. Great come back for Bris. Hopefully a real boost to the confidence.

Hughes looks as good as I’ve ever seen him. I wonder if there’s a way back to England for him, and in what role.

Hughes did look good. Credit Bris for sticking in the game and coming back but Exe should be kicking themselves for their careless, error strewn effort. They havent really fired at all so far this season.
Bris continue to develope. Top of the table now. It wont last but i think we can forget about them in a relegation battle.

I think Bristol will suit him very well and he can clearly be a fantastic player at this level, but not convinced he is able to translate it to the next level up.

It's all well and good saying we could have had a bulkier player like him at 6 (I mean, obviously no he doesn't have the work-rate for that) against a team like SA where we got bullied, except that my lasting memory of him in an England shirt is getting dumped on his arse by their smallest player.

Faf has done that to furlong as well though. Gets inn a great position, survives the firstimpact, lifts a leg and drives.

Was Furlong the crucial man in securing an exit position, off a scrum in his own 22, yet meandering in to contact as if he was playing against an under 12s team? If so then that was equally poor. Credit to Faf either way.

It's the moment that summarises Hughes's play for England, rather than one bad moment tarnishing his performances.

I remember that as well and clearly so does eddie. I don't see him in the england team any time soon to be honest.

He played for England after the South Africa game- he actually played well in that 3rd test.

If anything it was his shoddy performance off the bench against Scotland in the 6N’s, he made some diabolical decisions in defence in that game. But more than any one performance, I suspect Eddie just didn’t see the conditions in Japan, and the way the games would be played, suiting him.

Just heard he broke a finger in the first half, might explain some of it, but he does seem to accasionally have feet for hands.
