Today has been an utter write-off at work. Waiting for the team. Now analysing the team. Looking at bets. Looking at what we want from the other fixtures. Looking at this message board for about the millionth time. Thistle podcast on the drive up. Bring it on!

Yup. Can't believe how much time today I've managed to waste today in anticipation of the (incredibly unsurprising) news that Bradbury returns in place of CDP.

Me too! Outside of Hill, Back and Dallaglio the Jeffrey, Calder, White trio was fantastic and one of my all time favourite combos - two flankers who where blindsides /opensides rolled into one and an actual no.8! Suspect Winterbottom was ever so slightly quicker than all of them though!

General Zod wrote:Figured that would be the team. Am expecting early testers for Kinghorn after Ireland - hopefully, he’s worked on fielding high balls, as if he can turn them round quickly, he’s got a monster boot.
I’m sure they will have a go at Kinghorn given his display in Dublin which I thought was poor.

However we’ll be going after Furbank who had a wretched display in Paris.

Charlie Morgan is very good at this stuff, if you're not already familiar with his writing.

Cheers for posting the link, that is interesting stuff. I'm really enjoying all the good analysis that's out there these days, even if it does highlight how little I actually know about the game I've watched and played for decades.

Anyone seen any articles analysing our defence?

Enjoyed that Tom English video. Am away to show my dad - he was there! He always says that at full time, he had never seen as many hip flasks produced at once in his life.

They also keep mentioning that FOS was sung for the first time that year. It wasn’t - I was at a game in 1989 v Fiji (my first - I wasn’t big enough to go to the england match!) where it was sung. I distinctly remember the programme sellers/ stewards/ turnstile operators handing out a sheet of paper with the lyrics. I was too young to understand it all, but I remember from my vantage point in the old west stand that there was something special about its rendition.

What they may have done is also play GSTQ, a bit like how Ireland have 2 anthems now. Not sure though and I can’t find any footage.

Remember it well.
We were getting ready for the traditional booing of GSTQ. As the band struck up & "boo..." there was a pause & "hang on, what's that they're playing?"

There was much shuffling of feet and looking around particularly among us youngsters who had no idea what the tune was never mind the words!

Remarkable to compare it to just a few months later in the grand slam match.

Slow it down once we get into the 22. Get turned over. Give away free kick. Back on Scottish 5 metre line all of a sudden.

Solid stuff.

Yep. 7 minutes and we've made just about every classic mistake already.

In fairness to Cummings that was harsh, yes he was on top but the ball was available

He wasn't trying to move either. It's an unforced error.

After 31 years of following Scotland I feel like I can predict it after the first few minutes of a game.

We're fucked.

Do England know the lineout calls? They're reading them very well
