So the scrum on Wasps put in at least, is completely one sided, let's hope it stays that way

Dombrandt makes it look so easy.

Wasps got to play more terrority, line-outs 50/50 at best on Quins throw

Granted we’re playing with our 3rd choice loosehead and our worst lock combination but our set piece is just horrible. we seem to be having more problems on Louw’s side of the scrum too which is worrying considering we’ve signed him as a ‘dominant’ tighthead
. Harris is owning him at the moment.

That's why I rate Smith so highly.

And that's why we say Brown can't pass

Wasn't the pass that was lacking, it was that he didn't bloody look!Which Tyler wrote:And that's why we say Brown can't pass
But if Esterhuisen had looked around and gone left, we'd have been in...
From another Smith chip. Looking almost Spencer-like. But with defence, lol.

Willis is so strong over the ball. Esterhuizen isolated again.

Umaga needs to take a deep breath, and just take an easier kick, rather than looking for 50 yards.

I don't get it. If the player did not have an arm, he would have landed on his head.
I mean, I would be on him for recklessness but the nonsense about the landing is ridiculous and pointless. It's enough that he took him beyond the horizontal and then let go of him. You don't need to bloody worry about "if he didn't have an arm", he's got a bloody arm!

He can be a little bit flakey at times. Just a little bit of inexperience. We've seen it before in other games.Raggs wrote:Umaga needs to take a deep breath, and just take an easier kick, rather than looking for 50 yards.
Red card was a really stupid tackle from the Quins hooker. He had a great chance to just smash in Robson's ribs, he didn't need to lift him. Has allowed Wasps back in it.

OK, so obviously I'm happy that was disallowed, but surely that's a pen for hands in ruck if it's a knock-on?

It was all on Elia. Would Wasps have managed that against 15 considering how laboured their game was? I'm not so sure... And maybe then Quins could have been more dangerous, too.padprop wrote:Great comeback, Barbeary and Young adding alot
The red card was the game changer, by a long way. If Baldwin is out, too, we're really getting low on players again! How? What the hell are we doing in training that we consistently have 1/2 our squad out injured?

Red changed the game, no doubt, but...
If Willis isn't in the next England squad, Jones should be fired.
I don't think he was as good as he can be today, but once again he makes his presence felt. And that turnover at the end, while basically doing the splits, was pretty impressive.

If a player is deemed as having an off day when he gets two turnovers, a bunch of dominant carries and the game winning try he must be doing something right

Even then I thought we defended with a really good level of intensity. I was fairly heartened to see that.Stom wrote:It was all on Elia. Two massive individual errors (Elia’s red and Brown’s charge down) were the killer. 15 on 15, Wasps created nothing.

He's a very impressive player and if he can just clean up his discipline a little he'll be a fixture on the international scene. Evans impressed me more though, ok not so the knock on at the end, he was turning ball over and making tackles all over the place. Proper openside performance.TheNomad wrote:Red changed the game, no doubt, but...

I tell you who I thought did have a good game tonight - Luke Pearce. I thought he made most of his decisions correctly, I was impressed with his handling of the scrum (especially on halftime where the Wasps loosehead tried to con him to get Louw yellowed and he saw right through it), and I appreciated him not allowing the TMO to go through yet another set of replays that they wanted on the Elia red card.

Missed a few things though. Still not sure how everyone missed Willis being taken out in the air from the very first kick off. I know he knocked on, but he was taken clean out.Puja wrote:I tell you who I thought did have a good game tonight - Luke Pearce. Smith defo won the young gun battle. Umaga didn't do his Eng squad chances much good. Poor touchfinders and weak to non-existent effort in the tackle. He's much better than that but his head seemed to drop when Wasps lost their early momentum.
Evans and Robshaw were a total pest at the breakdown. Willis was quiet by his standards but still managed to claim MOM rightly, Jeez.

What encouraged me about Umaga is he recovered. Took him a while but he settled again. Earlier this season and he'd not have got his head back in the game.

Re: Quins vs Wasps, 28/09 19.45
I thought the red card was harsh. Pearce said that Robson « would have » landed on his head, but he didn’t! He put his arms down on impact. Yellow yes, but the red was not justified and changed the game unnecessarily.
