Not sure if that is it, Monye mentioned it, I doubted there was any TV footage of it as the description from the commentators was, it’s ‘ugly and in the stands’ if that ‘is’ what they were referring to then theres nothing in it.

Wow. That is literally nothing. If that's what Monye was getting het up about, then he needs his head examining.

I think there might be more to it, but possibly not a head butt. Something Yarde did riled a Glos player (LRZ I’m led to believe) to the extent that Yarde was dragged up the stands. This is of course based on what I’m hearing from people closer to the action, rather than anything I’ve seen personally, but you can normally tell from players reactions what is important and what is not. 36 and Curry for example kissing and making up quite quickly afterwards.

I suspect a lot of went has gone on the floor there between Yarde and LRZ will only be known about between those two. You can't see much of what their arms are doing but there's clearly movement. Just chalk it up as a rugby incident and move on. Nobody got hurt. If someone had got up with a broken nose or a split eyebrow then go and review it some more.

By the looks of it there'll be two citings from the game as is.

I don’t disagree with that. Looks like Ed slater to me from that clip should be cited.

Last word from me on this, Flatman seems to be in agreement.

David Flatman on Twitter:

Scrum pen against Jamal F-R was the wrong call. The hit on Harris was a simple cheap shot (given them and received them myself) let go. And Glos being penalised for pushing the water boy after he cheated may be right but just feels...wrong. Who’d be a ref? Not I. Not I.

I quite enjoy scraps in rugby. Sale just come across like they are constantly looking for it though.

I already thought Du Preez was a bit of a thug, but this is not good at all.

That is shocking. The cheapest of cheap shots.

The Yarde one sort of reminds me of when the welsh went in a up roar saying Genge head-butted Francis.

Not even a penalty given. Hence the uproar.

This aggressive “clearing-out” is all too prevalent in today’s game and World Rugby really should insist on it being rigorously penalised

Agree wholeheartedly with that. This instance though has nothing to do with a clear out. There’s nobody to clear, and he’s targeted the tackled player, who is almost on the ground and out of the game.

Agreed. Really not much of a defence for that one.

I’m amazed it wasn’t looked at a lot more closely, given that it directly resulted in the player leaving the field.

Surely a ban coming for Dan du Preez.

From what I recall during the match, DP hits the upper back/shoulder. It's a very cheap shot, but if that's where he hits, it's not illegal.

It wasn't the Glaws medical team that removed Harris, it didn't happen immediately after, so I presume it was the independent team that chose to check him out.

On a related note steve diamond apparently had two deaths and a terminal illness in his immediate family. He says may come back to rugby in the future.

Was it mother died early December on the first anniversary of his brother's death. Another family member as you say with terminal illness. Must have been a dark time for him. I suspect he'll be back once his personal life is in a better place, Sale will probably find a role on the board for him.

It is illegal regardless of where contact was made as the player was already tackled

So easy to argue that he's committed before the tackle is complete. I mean there's less than a second from when his knee hits the ground and the impact, and that's in the slowmo gif.

EDIT - I'm not going to complain if he gets cited btw, just that there's a very easy arguement that it was just a grub move, rather than illegal.

I can see where you’re coming from, and you might be right that it’s deemed legal or close to it. It feels like an effort just to hurt someone rather than an effort to make a tackle or aid his team in any way. But that’s probably tinged by my view of the person doing it.

Both those clear outs should be cited to be honest.
