Sale would have restarted with 15 men. In the event, by going back for the penalty, Tigers came away with a penalty try and a 2 man advantage for 10 minutes. Arguably, the disallowed 'try' ended up costing Sale far more than Tigers.
The fact that Tigers couldn't take further advantage speaks volumes about Sales defence in particular.

Mind, the penalty try not given after Youngs's tap would've come first and resulted in restarting with 14 and Faf off. However, we were never on for the win anyway, so it's a bit moot.

To be fair I posted that just before the first yellow card. Karma worked out in the end I suppose. As Puja said Tigers never looked like winning it.
