Good game of rugby spoiled by poor reffing.

Did not see the whole game but early on Itoje was awarded a 'jackalling' penalty when he only had one hand on the ball. How could he be in a position to pick it up and therefore denied possession?

Ridley, who is a good ref, made some very questionable calls. Not his best effort. Asst refs didnt seem to help him out much.

You’ve never picked up or ripped a ball with one hand?

Looked at Shedweb and they reckoned Ridley bottled 3 yellows for Sarries - Billy V (deliberate knock on), Farrell (shoulder charge) and a collapsed maul 1m out. Bristol board not happy and the Sarries board seem a little relieved about it...
How did Frisch do Mells? I was out on my bike and punctured so was out a lot longer than planned...

Thought he went well - his try was top class. I was going to post that he needs to be in the next EPS squad but I used all my hyperbole on Rich Lane. Slightly more importantly, I’d like to see more than 50 mins of him before anointing him Greenwood’s heir apparent. That said, IMO, he certainly seems to have the requisite skill set for test rugby. He and POC make a good combo and, for me, outshone their opposite numbers.
Billy V and Farrell should have both been shown yellow. Farrell had two high shots (with the shoulder and no wrap, obvs) within 60 secs. Not sure about a maul yellow - those fecking things are a mystery to me. Dallaglio probably should’ve been shown a red with a lifetime ban to follow.

Time to go tubeless on the bike? Should run smoother as well.
I agree with Mels in the main, Frisch looked very good in attack scoring one and offloading for another. I think it's the first time I've seen him have a meaningful bit of game time and he looked a handful and combined well with POC. I was a little surprised he was replaced so early. I'd like to see him be more of a fixture in defence but that's being picky.
The Sarries error count in the first half was pretty bad. A lot of handling errors mainly in attack in the Bristol half. I didn't catch the second half but from the scoreline at the end I think I caught the right half.

I can’t believe I’m actually tempted to watch this whole game just to hear Dallaglio’s commentary. He drives me mental when I listen to him, but now I feel like I’ve missed out in some way.
Also it’s brilliant we’re still looking for the successor/heir to the throne at 12 of a guy who retired 17 years ago.

I'm just amazed Farrell wasn't officially player of the match given Dallaglio had decided he was before the game began. Was looking for any excuse of even vague competence to praise him.

It was utterly ridiculous.

Mind, the Bristol fullback was good, wasn't he? Wonder why no-one's mentioned him as a player to watch before?

Can’t say he made an impression on me.

Just watched the highlights and that was plenty of Dallaglio to show me what I was missing.
Have to feel for Joyce. That will haunt him. I remember doing exactly the same thing once, unnecessarily waiting until the last possible moment to throw the pass, so the outside man has crept that little bit too far forward, and completely blew a try.

Only his second start I think?

(Just in case you're not in on the joke he's on loan from Bedford and Mells has been assiduously promoting his quality)
