Biggest ever winning margin in the Champ Cup for LR. The only way it could be worse is if Northampton were the previous victims of this record… oh!
Meh I've witnessed worse from us in Europe than losing badly away from home against the reigning Champions as they come back into their best form.
Shows how far Leicester have fallen, bar the one successful season under Sullen Blunderbus.
Borthwick was more than one season, we had two and a half good seasons with him at the helm. Some of the absolute shite show in the years before though was embarrassing. I was thinking specifically about the absolute hiding we took from Glasgow at Welford Road when I wrote the last post.
The attack was never free flowing under Borthwick but it was efficient enough. In that game we butchered at least two glorious chances to run tries in, several other opportunities we dealt with poorly. You just can't do that and with some of the injuries we've had in the backline we really needed to develop something cuter than hard carries to narrow the defence then go straight to the winger hugging the touchline which has been our go to 3 or 4 phase pattern this season.
There's enough quality in that side for a clever attack coach to make a lot of. Matt Smith is covering the job but he's mainly flourished as a development pathway coach. I loved him in a Tigers shirt during his playing days but he never struck me as the kind of attacking mind that would deconstruct the opposition defence. He spent the bulk of his career in the centres playing like an additional flanker.

In his first season we finished top 6 and went to the minor European final. That was a successful season after barely avoiding relegation for a couple of seasons prior to that. The half a season he finished on we went out to Leinster in Europe and made the playoffs which whilst not successful was at least solid.
Yeah the Prem trophy is a lonesome but of silverware for Tigers though. So much has been rebuilt and improved but having the coaching team gutted definitely hurt us.

Again, it shows how far Leicester have fallen if that’s classed as success. All, subjective, I suppose.
