England v Scotland in 1963 when Richard Sharp scored quite a good try is there in my memory of watching Saturday afternoon Grandstand with dear ol' mum, who hated the Welsh and the Scots, and was persistently screaming at the telly for the English to kill the opposition!!
Take a look at this clip, toe-poke goalkicking, and back in the days when Bedford had a player in the England team (although Mells'll be far too young to remember Budge Rogers!!)

He owned a Jowett Jupiter...... Old Budgster not Mells
Splendid motor! Mells'll surely tell us what he drives!
It's bound to have two wheels, a chain and a pump.

I have actually been to his house a couple of times - I was friends with his eldest son - but I can’t remember what was sat on the drive.

I was at Twickenham in 1965 when Andy Hancock ran the length of the pitch to score against Scotland. You could get into the ground by slipping the gate men some silver and then watch from the south stand. I don't think that is possible these days! It was hard work being an England supporter as I grew up, we didn't seem to win that many games and had to listen to insufferable Welshmen lauding their admittedly superior team.
Of course the main highlight was was in 1982 when Erica Roe and her rather more attractive friend ran onto the pitch without their shirts.

So was I. Back then the teams stayed on the pitch for a half time huddle, and it’s said that as Bill Beaumont was trying to motivate his players for the second half, scrum half Steve Smith is alleged to have said, “Hey, Bill, there’s a bird at other end of the pitch with your arse on ‘er chest!”

When Bob Hiller was kicking goals for Eng, and he & Pullin were skips, so 70-71 era.
As a runner/kicker rather than scrapper, intrigued by number of local players in national team around that time, threequarters:
Finlan, Fielding (Moseley),.Webster, Doble,Corless,Cooper later.
Duckham, Preece, Evans, Rossborough, Cowman (Coventry)
Moseley were probably the leading English club team before the rise of Bath. Glaws County side was formidable, based on forward dominance.
