In light of our 9 options Quirke is in good company for basic mistakes. The difference is his good is exceptional.
Very true but some of the errors are farking glaring and stupid. He tried one ridiculous offload/pass right in front of me vs Exe which lead to Sale going from Exe’s 22 back into their own and then he compounded it with a v stupid penalty. No point rushing him into the Eng now that Mitchell is back, imo.
Fair do’s. That said, unlike some, I really don’t rate JVP that highly. So Mitchell and Quirke plus another young pretender works for me.Mellsblue wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 3:22 pmVery true but some of the errors are farking glaring and stupid. It's strange how perception of talent varies. I can remember getting pilloried on here for suggesting Mitchell at 9 (well before he was picked). Then, JVP was the one, with his injury departure from the RWC causing much gnashing of teeth. Mitchell returns and excels. Always (in my mind, anyway), the best option once fitness/form returned, was Quirke. Now, he looks erratic at best. He might need to change clubs to find consistency and fulfil potential, I suspect. I don't think he's a good mix with Ford.p/d wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 4:29 pmFair do’s. That said, unlike some, I really don’t rate JVP that highly. Mitchell had some pretty iffy moments early in his England career. To be fair to him he went away and improved areas of his game and went from fourth to first choice for the world cup. His kicking game used to be a bit of a weakness and now it's a real strength. We could do with some of the other scrum halves following his example really (particularly Harry Randall a scrum half with a below average pass and a terrible kicking game).Oakboy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:43 amIt's strange how perception of talent varies.
