Bloody hipsters, and bloody pubs that pander to the IPA craze. You're lucky if there's a proper session beer on tap these days. Instead we get to choose from a range of 3 or 4 different American style lager IPAs and the bitter equivalent, all with varying degrees of hopiness. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind an IPA now and again, but I don't want to drink it all the time as it's quite overpowering. Also, why are 90% of "craft ales" (poncy lager), IPA style? As lager goes I'd rather a Bitburger or budvar.

Re: Bearded hipsters
I worked late last night and in the common kitchen area was a bearded graduate student in full plaid shirt regalia, with weak, pasty underfeatures, supping something vile from a mason jar with a "sewious" look on his face. I asked him if he could change a tyre, but just got a blank stare in reply. I laughed like a loon and left the room. Bastard.

Did he have his legs crossed in that manner which surely only women and men with shrivelled balls can achieve?morepork wrote:I worked late last night and in the common kitchen area was a bearded graduate student in full plaid shirt regalia, with weak, pasty underfeatures, supping something vile from a mason jar with a "sewious" look on his face. Many years ago I used to pronounce it 'du-chaaars' with a Frog/Edinburgh accent......but was soon alerted to the knowledge that it's actually pronounced 'dhoo-ckers' with a Glasgie accent.

Don't mind the odd genuine beer IPA but all these sodding fizzy craft things with notes of elderflower, peach and such bollocks, do my nut in.kk67 wrote:I'm quite partial to a Deuchars.Hooky wrote:Bloody hipsters, and bloody pubs that pander to the IPA craze. Another Hi-jack - IPA was such solid fodder..( in Embra we put Mcewie's 80-bob* intae casks & relabelled it 'Youngers IPA'..generally known as 'Heavy' though that was originally the weaker 70 Bob.The famous Export in the red can was filtered 80 Bob.Some dollops of caramel intae IPA & we got No.3!

Porkykins, you need one of these for those cold Philly winters.

It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.

We need a collective noun for these characters - ambled through the Manc. Northern Quarter yesterday and just about every twendy bar had a clutch/ assemblage of identikit hipsters outside..
usually 3-5 per gathering, none solo and not a bird in sight..odd.

A barbo of hipsters, perhaps; it being the suitably pretentious esperanto word for beard?

We have a new addition in the High St. -competition for the other 2 traditional gents hairdresser/barbers in the village (suburban type).
These are offering more though -blades/fades/threading/charcoal masks and ..'beard treatments'..blimey, I never knew beards ever got
poorly, but I can see how it could happen.

I saw a wispy-bearded wanker at a bar last week make a big show of checking his pocket watch every 10 minutes. It had a little chain on it that was attached to a pocket on his vest.
What a cunt.
What a cunt.

Yeah,...we've got one of those. I couldn't tell what sort of shop it was initially.Galfon wrote:We have a new addition in the High St. -competition for the other 2 traditional gents hairdresser/barbers in the village (suburban type).

It looks like the inside of a kids tent at Glasto'. I'm looking through the window and I only realized it was a barbers by looking at the crudely written price list on the blackboard.

I mis-read the lay of the land on ours..there has been a clutch of turkish ( and closely related ) barbers popping up in the trendier areas, smarter than the average barbershop and using all the different techniques mentioned - maybe 2 cultures have collided, centred around face-fuzz..

Seems like a wonderful idea. Imagine the possibilities when you can put a large number of the world's most pretentious people in a confined space. I'm no fan of mass murder but......

One at the school gates today. Pushing a buggy the size of a tank, and dropping off kid. Stay at home Dad and supercilious doesn't begin to describe him. Look at me, tall, bearded hipster how cool am I. Ignores the Dads and tries to be a Mum. Does Amazon sell Zyklon B?
Just checked, funnily enough they do.

I can't stand those smug wankers. Underneath the beard is a pale, trembling, chinless nobody. The poor offspring of this preposterously unfit sub sepcies.
