So he was. Looks like Hastings & Finn are alternating at first receiver.

Strauss' performance today makes it pretty clear that his exile was either political or personal. We don't have the player pool to do that. I hope he's welcomed back into the fray for the 6N & RWC.

Sam Skinner MoM... He was really good today.
And just now a superb combination from Russell and Hastings sees the latter score.
Deilghted with the scoreline but Fiji really did have our number in the first half.

Plenty of options for MotM. Ritchie and Gilchrist being the obvious too.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Sam Skinner MoM... He was really good today.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Side to play the Springboks
1. Dell
2. McInally
3. Nel
4. Skinner
5. Gilchrist
6. Wilson
7. Watson
8. Strauss
9. Laidlaw
10. Russell
11. Maitland
12. Horne
13. Jones
14. Seymour
15. Hogg
Subs: Brown, Allen, Berghan, Toolis, Ritchie, Horne, Hastings, Kinghorn.
Gray needs a boot up the arse, as do Dunbar and Price (who was poor against Wales).

Wilson was very poor today. Created the space for the Fiji try. Was poor last week too.BlackCat1978 wrote:Side to play the Springboks

Re: AI Squad & general match thread
Very decent win apart from 10 or so mins. Played an open game but also made sure our advantage in the tight counted. Russell provides that extra sharpness on the pass and the back three got involved well. Pack were good close to the line too.
Next week I'd pick:
Dell
McInally (better lineout)
Nel
Gray
Gilchrist (Skinner off the bench)
Wilson (although tight with Ritchie)
Watson
Strauss
Laidlaw
Russell
Maitland
Dunbar (probably)
Jones
Seymour
Hogg
I'd then make sure Kinghorn gets a start the following week and maybe Ashe

Re: AI Squad & general match thread
Laidlaw is still pretty crap at passing. Is this not an issue?
Horne biffing that 2-on-1 was criminal as well. He just doesn’t seem to be able to put his great passing game into effect at this level.
Dell and Wilson underwhelming too.
Any idea when our various injured players are expected back?

Re: AI Squad & general match thread
Id say he is above Denton and the others are also options at 6. I say pick on form and see where we get.
And yeah laidlaw's passing is not ideal but he is playing okay
