Hooper is DOR isnt he?

In training, Hooper is an assistant under the direction of Hatley.
That he's even that much, as DoR with a Head Coach alongside him, shows how understaffed we are in the coaching department at the moment. And how messed up and confused things are.

As for training, I'm pretty sure most of the injuries have been picked up during play

Know what you mean though the DOR role is pretty unspecified and is different from team to team and sometimes season to season at the same team.

The point is, he's not in charge of training, where the injuries aren't happening anyway.

That was what I thought- I had a look at the Bath website, and there seem to be a lot of back room staff around , but I’m taking from your comments- and the results/outcome- that the quality is poor…..I’d also think that Hatley won’t be there much longer?

Farrell out of the 6N's.

For a player as physically committed and unconcerned for their own wellbeing as Farrell it's a fairly major surprise he's not sustained any real serious injuries before now. I wonder if this may be the start of a period where it all begins to catch up to him as he ages.

I had not realised until I just read it on the BBC website that this is an injury to his other ankle. A set-back to an existing injury would be bad enough but now he has two dodgy ankles. I would not wish that on anybody at his age and career stage. Full recovery will take hard work, I suspect.

Jonny Hill also a doubt for the Scotland game apparently. Would be an interesting dilemma if he missed out - he's taken some time to settle in but started to look the part in the autumn IMO and we lose a lot of bulk in the second row if he doesn't recover.

Indeed, just seen Rob Baxter has said he's likely to miss the entire tournament as well. A call-up for Ribbans in the pipeline perhaps?

That would be a big loss - I'd go with Lawes if fit or Chessum if he's not, but you know Eddie will go with Ewels. I don't necessarily know that Chessum is international quality yet (or even if he ever will be; still far too early to tell), but Ewels is a very known quantity of "just below international standard" and so I'd rather take the gamble and hope Chessum rises to it.

Seems to be some mixed messages re. Hill. Eddie’s quote says they’re ‘cautiously optimistic about him being ready for Scotland’ which is very different to missing the whole tournament.

Sorry to hear this - is Lawes going to moved back to lock now (not that scrum ballast is his forte) ? Though it would give us an opportunity to put a more creative 6 like T Curry or Ludlum there

On Jonny Hill, this is what Baxter said today; “I can’t really give you a timescale, I was told at the time it could be six weeks, it could be slightly longer or shorter but that was the initial prognosis.”

He’s been out for 3 weeks or so I think, so clearly England hoping he’s a fast healer.

Ollie Chessum, at 2m.01 and 118kgs (according to Wiki), has the ballast to fit in next to Itoje in the 2nd row, or at 6 if Lawes isn't fit for Murrayfield.

He's been picked in the squad so give the man his chance. He deserves it!

Anything to not have Ewels starting.

Ewels will play at lock if Hill isnt fit.

If Lawes doesnt come through his HIA protocol I have a feeling Ludlam will play at 6.

Odds on Isiekwe at least making the matchday 23 have shortened considerably.
