Didn’t know that the Dragons were playing last night. Losing at home to Connacht isn’t too clever.

The Jocks looked tasty this afternoon. They’ll have their tails up when we go up to Murrayfield.

That’s a massive result. England were stopped in their tracks and looked bereft of ideas.

That was a joy to watch. Although I did think they were about to throw it all away when Russell fucked up the would-be heroic drop goal attempt. Hope they stick with him against us, he's a bit of a liability, does too much, some good some bad.

The Saracens players had to be undercooked, but full credit to Scotland. They should have won by more. It will be very tough for Wales next week if they can replicate today’s performance

Billy Vunipola was anonymous except for his yellow. Farrell had an off game but Itoje was pretty good.

Scotland played well but for all their positive play, they lacked composure on many occasions. They would be tough to beat.

I was convinced Scotland would blow it, like they always do. Why try to kill the clock in front of the posts, when an easy DG gives you a 2-score lead? And then go for a speculative one once you're forced onto the back foot, and there's still a minute to go? GAAAAH!

But they got away with it, for once. Tomorrow they should reflect that this should have been a hammering, but for now, fair play. I can't remember seeing ANYONE dominate England for 80 minutes at Twickenham before. We'd better have some pretty big surprises in store if we think we're going to break through that defence next week... :-/

The Dragons have signed three players on short term contracts this week, before the Leinster game on Friday, including Dan Baker and Gonzalo Bertranou, who has played at scrum half for Argentina. I might tune in, although Leinster’s second string gave the Scarlets seconds a proper beating the other week.

All of the other three teams are on one after the other on Saturday, between 3 and 9pm, Scarlets v Benetton, Ospreys v Zebre and Connacht v Blues. A nice little interlude to the six nations, and a chance for a lot of young players to get a game.

I wonder if Carwyn Tuipulotu will have some time on the pitch for the Scarlets.

I’d hope so. With no disrespect to Benetton, he should get a bit more front foot ball than against Leinster.

That game against one of the best club teams in the world was a real baptism of fire. He has huge promise and hopefully can deliver on that.

He seems a little behind in his progress, Faletau was already playing Internationally at his age iirc.

I don’t disagree. But then players come through at different times. I thought Keddie might be further along than he is but he’s not international grade yet.

Just checking ages, Faletau was 20
When he got his first cap, Tuipolotu is 19

I wonder how much covid will affect young player development?

Interesting re: Keddie, I think he's come on quite a bit in the last two years, if we weren't so blessed in the back row he could be in with a shout, I saw Dan Thomas won MOM for Bristol on the weekend, we have back rowers galore. In the premiership we have the following opensides Sam Lewis, Thomas Young, Dan Thomas and Tommy Reffell. I still wish we would get Thomas Young over to a Welsh side, maybe Cardiff can attract him now his dad's there, to me he has the perfect mix for what Pivac is looking for, he links excellently with the backs, is strong over the ball and is physical to boot.

Completely agree about Tom Young. He would be a huge asset to any Welsh side.

Keddie has improved but maybe it’s more a reflection of our back row talent now. Faletau was only called into the squad as injury cover IIRC and took his chance.

It was the upheaval of 2011 I think, Ryan Jones lost the captaincy to Warburton and the new look back row came into force, Lydiate, Warburton & Faletau.

Screech starts at 6 for the Dragons tomorrow, in a back row with Huw Taylor and Ben Fry. For one reason or another they are missing Ross Moriarty, Harrison Keddie, Aaron Wainwright, Taine Basham and Ollie Griffiths in the back row, How unlucky is that ?

The new Argentinian scrum half doesn’t make the 22, but Jordan Williams is back at full back and Jonah Holmes returns on the wing. Exciting to see Aneurin Owen get his first start, at 13. Also looking forward to seeing how Ben Carter goes in the second row - he has made a very impressive start for a 19 year old. Dan Baker is on the bench.

Full 23 is:

Jordan Williams, Jonah Holmes, Aneurin Owen, Jack Dixon, Ashton Hewitt, Sam Davies, Rhodri Williams, Brok Harris, Richard Hibbard, Lloyd Fairbrother, Joe Davies, Ben Carter, Matthew Screech, Ben Fry, Huw Taylor

Ellis Shipp, Greg Bateman , Chris Coleman, Joe Maksymiw, Dan Baker, Luke Baldwin, Josh Lewis, Connor Edwards

I have a feeling that game is best viewed from behind the sofa.

Chance for a few youngsters to shine, but they are definitely second favourites !

S4C have wisely chosen to show the other 3 matches, not this one.

Very sensible. I’ve just cancelled my Premie Sport subscription so I might watch one last game on there or just save myself the pain and watch one of the others on S4C!

Yup, there'll be no pleasure in this one.

Was 9-0 Dragons, Leinster are 14-12 up on 30 minutes. 2 tries from Leinster in the usual rumbling way

15-14 Dragons at half time. They had a rolling maul try disallowed on the stroke of half time. They have been the better side, but Leinster look unstoppable when they get the phases going in the 22. The second try was typical, the Dragons gave a pointless penalty away at a ruck on half way, Leinster kicked into the 22, about 300 phases later it’s a try near the posts. Good graft from the Dragons, though. Fry on the open side is having a good game in ugly conditions, and the Dragons scrum is munching the opposition. Screech went off fo an HIA and hasn’t come back, he was going well in the lineout, but it’s nice to see Baker on the field again. Haven’t really seen Owen, Sam Davies is kicking well and Jonah Holmes has had a couple of good runs.

Harry Byrne has had a couple of wobbly moments, but Conan and Baird look very impressive.
