England's starting pack need to have a long hard look at themselves they were absolutely shocking. The Irish pack had them in toast in every facet of the game.

Only positive for me was seeing George Martin come on and form up England's useful backrow of the game with Martin, Curry and Earl. Nice carry through Sexton and made himself busy without giving away needless penalties, Johnny Hill I'm looking at you.

We had some misfortune today. We had a a very good case for a penalty try in the 10th minute when Ireland collapsed a maul on their goal line. Not given.
We lose Ford and the Farrell in quick succession meaning Robson plays at 10. We lose Billy resulting in a kid coming on in the back row.
Against that we were largely shit. I dont think we engineered a single line break, and failed miserably to get our wingers into the game. Our discipline was again appalling. We looked lethargic and slow witted. we kicked too much - and mostly pretty badly.
A few players seemed to be going through the motions. There was little urgency with or without the ball. We gave the Irish HB's a pretty easy ride.
3 very poor defeats this 6N's is a bad return.

Agreed. Lawrence was wandering away from support and into a trap every time he got the ball.
Also agreed that the biggest problem was up front. Feels like both here and Scotland we were completely dominated in the tight, which, along with playing so dumb left us with no chance.

To what extent was the '28' restriction significant? Let's face it, Launchbury and Underhill were fit to play. I can't think of anything else in mitigation.

Ford was pulled; we had a 6:2 bench- so utterly self inflicted. And both that and Billy going off was after the game was lost.

You talk about getting wingers intio the game etc etc. That's because we gave away a sh*t load of pens upfront again.

Neither mine, but Lozowski, Mercer and Care wouldn't have been mine after the Japan game. Just can't see Eddie taking well to Hill coming on to give braindead penalties, Lawrence to be pretty quiet a second start in a row and he subbed Wilson off pretty soon.

Underhill certainly a loss as from what I've heard (not seen him play since coming back) he's fit and firing. Based in Launchbury's comeback game last night he was nowhere near ready to return for England.

Beirne has been a revelation this season. Not massive, but a great engine, can do it all and has a rugby brain. I'd have him in the Lions squad.

Not sure what you expect from Lawrence, given the shit show inside him. Wilson had done well for me, winning lineout ball and effective at the ruck. Curry wasn't great imo, but eddie couldn't be seen to pull him I reckon. But you are maybe right on Eddie-think.

Itoje, Curry and Wilson were all fine imo. Lawrence did as well as could be expected and Ewels was efficient. Outside that I don't think anyone had a game they will ever want to remember.

The 6:2 bench was because Malins pulled out though. Ford was a tactical gamble, same as taking Wilson off. Eddie was hoping that Marchant and Earl would offer us more attacking spark.
