Having dominated up till h/t i expected a bit more in the 2nd half, but we seemed to content to defend, hoof the ball away and mix n max our back row resulting in us losing the half 7-12.
We should have pressed home our advantage more, and certainly should have shown a bit of interest in going for a TBP.

Agreed. Their only attack was us giving away penalties, which we did too often, but then with Peyper refereeing you know their will be more penalties than usual. No bias, he just blows more.

All in all a good day at the office. Lawes was excellent as was Maro. I was worried when we didn’t start Genge having lost Maro, purely for carrying, but the pack carried well all round. Youngs was nippy. Manu a threat. Daly solid. JJ good on the wing and roaming in a Nowell way. Top result. Could’ve been better but this was Ireland and we won and we’re pretty convincing all round. Yes a couple of bounces of the ball, but also good options and good chases, and to be fair we were seriously on top in possession and territory.

Still I’m sure we can all have a good moan.

You should look at the match stats again tho- and being picky, penalties bit of an issue.

It’s not been perfect in the past but he was top dollar today in all round play. Was much better into contact ball in hand and some cracking decisions of how to take contact.

Oh and Stander should be cited. A palm strike is fucking nasty! It’s not a punch but it is just as nasty if not more so when the heel of the palm is used. Yes Farrel held on, no qualms, but if you’re allowed to strike an opponent then it’s a sad time.

Yes, I agree but that's what you get with Jones - applaud the wins, forget the spectacle. There's no arguing with the result but if I was a neutral I would not enjoy watching it.

ah- its how its come out on your post, which just looks odd and I read it wrong apols. The overall stats say 39% possession to England, and 41% territory- skewed by the second half, where we shipped a load of pens as well.

Spectacle-wise, the first half was good. I thought rge pace was good. The second, less so. Fairly good then for a six natiobs fixture when a whole year can go by without a decent game.

I'm neutral and thought it was pretty flat. Take Ford out of today's side and it would have been much closer. Your forwards clattered theirs and on defence just had to follow the ball when Ireland laboured it about and flatten the carrier. The most telling thing was how you starved the Irish loosies of ruck ball. Yer man Curry was right in on that, as was Maro "wot? me offside?" Itoje. Also, am I alone in thinking Joseph would have done the damage at 12?

I actually think he's just a chameleon. After beating NZ and getting dicked by SA, his new system is now to emulate SA. Maybe, one day he'll have an original idea or two??

You don’t think we were seriously on top? Even if we rule out the first half completely, Ireland were at best second best.

I thought we were on top but gave away too many penalties and didn't score enough points to be seriously on top. It was a comfortable win, and against a good side
