I don't mind the idea that all reds should see he player off for 20 mins and then replaced by someone else. For me, it would take some of the heat out of the inconsistencies and make it a bit easier for refs to give the red if the consequences weren't quite so drastic.

However, it is funny over the last few months that teams have been pretty competitive after going a man down. Glasgow yesterday were just the latest example and they played a chunk with 13.

Supposedly English clubs open to releasing scots players. Game potentially on 26th March.

Not sure I believe it and kinda ruins the spectacle if wales beats France

It is but I think the French have it slightly harder. England Ireland and Scotland. Even with subs that’s a hell of 12 days. Mind you if Scotland goes well against Ireland they will need to run up a cricket score on mediocre Saturday

It’s 3 in 13 days for France and they have England, Wales and Scotland.

Apart from that tour post is dead on.

BBC reporting english based players may be released

Apparently Van Der Waalt is injured currently. With Hastings banned and Weir long term injured am really hoping that Russell comes through tonight safely.

If Russell picks up a knock, who would you start at ten? Thompson has the most recent game time but Chamberlain was ahead of him at U20's. Lang has played there in the past. Hogg could probably do a job anywhere. Thoughts?

A few changes. The main one that might effect the team is that Skinner is in and R Gray (concussion) is out.

Redpath is also still not back although seems to have started training so might see him later in the tournament.

I'm hoping Josh Bayliss may get a chance this 6N too :).

He seems to have been replaced in the squad by Skinner (I think) so looking unlikely.

Oh well, I suppose we will have to wait until the summer tour to see him :).

I hope England don't snatch him off us lol or is that unlikely?

No idea to be honest - I've never seen him play.

I think Skinner is unlucky that he hasn't been involved in the squad before now this year. He has been good for Exeter.

went off concussed in Bath's last game I think. And that is the reason he is out, replaced by Haining

Been surprised at Skinners exclusion, and to be honest its not a bad thing, if your not in the top 2 for each selection you are not guaranteed your place

I like Skinner, don't think he has had a bad game and want to see him convert to no 8 but at lock he isn't getting in front of Cummings or Gray anytime soon

We are short of quality second rows, Gilchrist has been awful this year, Toolis has been ok at international level and RGray whilst better this year hasn't been setting the heather on fire.

Skinner has the potential to be a very good second row now he seems to be solely focusing on it. And it wasn't that long ago the Jonny Gray was in danger of losing his position in the national side so we need good options. It is good to see that their club coach hasn't been afraid to start Skinner in big games such as there prem final.

Anyone heard any selection rumours for the weekend? Assume the fact that Johnson and Skinner were both put forward for interviews might suggest they could be in the 23.

Gilchrist not being in the edinburgh side for last weekend may be a sign he will come onto the bench

Does anyone know how Taylor and Maitland have gone for Sarries? Thought Taylor looked excellent vs Ireland in autumn, but at his age its weird to have him in the squad if he is not going to feature

Thistle rugby pod think it’s Johnson in for Lang and maitland in for Darcy and nel in for fagerson

Sutherland
Turner
Nel
Gray
Cummings
Richie
Watson
Dagerson
Price
Russel
Vdm
Johnson
Harris
Maitland
Hogg

Is my bet

I can never be sure with Taylor. Was the excellent? He's certainly a superior quality of player to Lang, but also playing in the Championship currently. He does some great stuff but seems too temperamental and injury prone to really build anything around him. Maitland was fantastic against England so at least has some credit in the bank.

Not too much to see from their loss to Pirates except a neat finish from Maitland, Taylor briefly limping around in a scrum-cap and best of all Hunter-Hill smashing his own prop in the face.

That side above would make sense. Did Graham get a knock or did I imagine that? Would be harsh if he left the 23 all together but I guess Jones covers more positions.

Where's this from?

No pre-announcement announcement announcement on Twitter yet so it might make sense if they're waiting on a late fitness test or two.
