Remarkable really. It wasn't long ago all the talk was that the rebuilding process would take years.
Gives some hope to Edinburgh fans. Players who look done can be transformed in a new environment.
interesting. I'd say the rebuilding of the squad had already happened - done by Wilson after Rennie did SFA towards the future. Think only Cordero has been signed (as short term cover) by Franco and he hasn't played a match, injured!
What Franco has done is taken those players to another level. That is where there is hope for Edinburgh - the right coach with the right game plan makes such a difference. Edin have the squad, they didn't have the other two
Yeah, good coaching and good structures (and continuity in the latter at least) can work wonders in rugby. Young players in particular can look great slotting into a well coached team, whereas the same youngsters can look completely out of their depth in other circumstances

Brave with the injury but that's a shocker really from Jordan.
was a red, no question.
Shoulda taken the points early door. Hindsight maybe I know as they haven't done that all season. Glasgow absolutely battered Munster in the first 20mins, not scoring them is what lost the game. The red card made t harder to come back but didn't lose it - actually won 2nd half 5-0.
A shame, but one thing I will say - no-one can accuse Glasgow of being soft or not physical enough this season. Every game they are brutal

I see Jordan copped a 5 week ban for his tackle on Murray, reduced from 10!
"At his disciplinary hearing, Jordan accepted that he had committed an act of foul play which warranted a red card. Simon Thomas of Wales, the Judicial Officer overseeing the disciplinary process, found that the incident met the red card threshold, with entry of top-end warranting 10 weeks suspension, but he gave a five weeks reduction for mitigation including Jordan’s unblemished disciplinary, timely guilty plea and apology to Murray."

seems no other player has been given a top end entry point for similar offences. I don't understand either, no one does

Toulon blow hot and cold. They have loads of great players TBF, but sit just below the top 6 and therefore T14 play offs. Think thye have had significant injury issues this season to eg Olivon and Kolbe. fielded a 2nd XV last week, giving up on the play offs. All eggs in this basket (they had some subscription scheme which means that of thye do not win something this season or something they have to give subscribers a free season or somesuch - it would cost then 1m euros! So the owners are incentivised, just a bit!)
Kebble had a great opening season for Glasgow, but it became noticeable he never finished a game. I don't mean he was subbed with 20mins to go, but that he seemed to always limp off between 20mins and 50mis. He was missing injured a lot of this season but he had been well overtaken by Bhatti anyway IMHO, and now by McBeth. Kebble when he has played simply has not performed. I wouldn't be too surprised to see him let go at end of contract, maybe earlier if they can find a home for him
Yeah, Kebble's a strange one. Seemed to lose all dynamism basically as soon as he qualified for Scotland. I wonder if an injury (injuries) affected him more than we know.
Good looking team. I'm a big McDowall fan but glad Jones is back at 13 and Smith is at 15. Darge benching is strange but will make a big impact coming on. Would have been nice to see Gray starting too but think he has been injured.

I'm overseas and can't watch. Is it as bad as it sounds? Benching Darge and trying to go toe to toe with Toloun instinctively feels like a mistake.
not quite how I saw it. We mucked up 2 line outs and conceded 2 tries. We mucked up another and were let off by Barnes. we mucked up another and lost the chance from 5m. We made huge yards from one lineout maul in midfield, but when we got more lineouts close in we lacked so much confidence we threw to the front and the maul easily defended. Then Tuipolotu dropped the ball from a restart, Toulon score from the scrum
Warriors lost that rather than Toulon won it in a sense. Toulon very worthy winners but too many Glasgow players froze, and issues that had been coming for weeks were exposed
Finishing runners-up is probably a fair reflection of the season's performance. Been very good but not the best.
There are some players that played tonight that just aren't up to that level. I've never been convinced Du Preez can keep up with the intensity of the Warriors gameplan. Set piece really failed again tonight and the bench made little impact.
Christ, that was poor. Bad start with huge errors at lineouts time, then just froze a bit. At least three drops near their line. Townsend may feel some vindication re Brown. Struggled at the breakdown too. Darge not starting was a mistake.

So I am back for a short time only
What I will say is this.
Glasgow have bought a pup with Franco Smith, and also paid for the privilege
well a disappointing end to the season for Glasgow, but given they exceeded all hopes and expectations, thought I'd resurrect this comment since it aged so well. Smith named URC coach of the season (voted on by the other head coaches)
Glasgow still have a way to go to be a top team, and of course it remains to be seen if Franco Smith can take them to the next level, but I think I'll continue to judge him on results here.
