This is utterly baffling.
The first ‘Big Weekend’ round will take place in Round 6 with the clash between Leinster and Munster at the Aviva Stadium headlining a weekend that also includes Connacht v Ulster, Scarlets v Dragons, Ospreys v Cardiff Blues, Edinburgh v Treviso and Zebre v Glasgow.
How is that a "big weekend" for Edinburgh and Glasgow?
The league also claims it will “capitalise on the rivalry between the Italian and Scottish clubs”
Oh yeah. We'll invent a traditional rivalry...

So after the Boxing Day Scottish Derby - usually a fairly intense scrap - we now have a five day turnaround, with travel to Italy thrown in, ahead of the Hogmanay game against our 'traditional rivals' erm Treviso.

But at least the Taffs don't have any Sunday games to (not) watch. As if it will make any difference. The Welsh have no interest in anything other than Team Wales. And even that may get further eroded by the fitba.

Arseholes. The Double header was one of the better things about the league.

I can only assume that they figure they need the attendance boost elsewhere, but that's hardly better for fans.

Green with envy....I used to actually enjoy watching Ed when he was around.

I remain unconvinced. Considering the talent available he has under achieved at the Crusaders.

Whilst i wouldn't say that it was a stellar coaching career at the Crusaders, there is rather a lot of talent elsewhere too...

Gilchrist and McInally co capts.

Pre-empting Gilchrist being crocked?

Why Rambo? He's always been second choice to Ford, and is likely to be away every international window as well.

Don't expect me to read articles. Headlines only for me. I'll fill in the blanks myself.

Ford has been sold.

Other than Baz's he's been sold theory, I wonder if the front row will be better managed this year than last. They were run into the ground last season.

Rumours from Morri that Hardie off to the Pests.

Would be a shame for Embra but wonder whether the player thinks it's it's better shop window for a Lions push. Plus a load of dosh.

I saw that rumour a few weeks ago on twitter but assumed it was pish because nothing has come of it yet.

Why the f@ck would they want him to stay? Glasgow appoint a class coach in Rennie but we're going to sit down and see if this doddery old fud wants to stay on....

No-one cares about Edinburgh anymore or is the selection just too predictable? Interesting (and depressing) to see Fowles start ahead of SHC. The midfield collisions in this game are going to be huge I reckon.

Cardiff Blues: Dan Fish; Blaine Scully, Cory Allen, Rey Lee-Lo, Tom James; Steve Shingler, Tomos Williams; Rhys Gill, Kirby Myhill, Taufa'ao Filise, George Earle, Macauley Cook, Josh Navidi, Ellis Jenkins (capt), Nick Williams.

Replacements: Kristian Dacey, Gethin Jenkins, Scott Andrews, James Down, Cam Dolan, Lewis Jones, Gareth Anscombe, Matthew Morgan

Edinburgh: Glenn Bryce; Rory Scholes, Sasa Tofilau, Solomoni Rasolea, Tom Brown; Duncan Weir, Nathan Fowles; Rory Sutherland, Ross Ford, WP Nel, Fraser McKenzie, Grant Gilchrist (capt), Jamie Ritchie, Hamish Watson, Nasi Manu

Replacements: Stuart McInally, Jack Cosgrove, Simon Berghan, Ben Toolis, Magnus Bradbury, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Blair Kinghorn, Chris Dean

WTF? Gilchrist is fit? Is that a mistake?

Captain McInally doesn't make the team?

It's unsettling seeing Weir in an Embra shirt. Like stroking a cat the wrong way.

Eeeeeesh.... That defence, you could drive a bus through that hole we made for them, Cardiff should have scored there.
