Awful way for the game to end, but Exeter most likely deserved it

Well played Chiefs.

Not sure Wasps did themselves justice tho- they just invited Exeter on for most of the game.

Delighted for Exeter, who I think were the better side over the whole game. Extra time was brutal and you could only applaud all the players for the huge effort they put in. A memorable final and a landmark result for Exeter.

Haskell going with the Lions, Armand can't get into an England squad. Go figure

Like a brandy, I can't see what Armand lacks

Haskell.....poor. Wasps seemed to lose their way when Simpson came on tbh, but it did seem they tired at about the hour, and then kept wasting the hard won turnovers with baffling kicking,

Excruciating at the end and a very odd way to win. Wasps looked great at times and deserve huge credit. Still can't believe exe have done it. The stars have aligned. :) Incredible when you think about it.

Simpson does like to dawdle at the base, its a shame really, he's kind of settled into a steady-eddie scrum half with just some additional pace.

Fair play to Simpson - he did manage to get back in defence and knock back an Exeter pass whwn it looked as though a score was on.
Happy to see Exeter win after a great burst at the end of the season. I like their coaching, playing philosophy, team ethic etc. and they are still by and large a club without "star" players. Well done.

I think Exeter have plenty of star players, it's just they're a good team too

Good stuff. A great day, first Exeter then Scarlets running away with the Pro12 title.

Cracking game. Over the moon for Exeter, completely gutted for Wasps.

Thought Taylor class, Parling like a youngster and finally a good showing from Hughes at HQ.

..... and where have Exeter been hiding Sam Simmonds!!!!

Exeter buying into the Crusaders ethos of a "champion team will always beat a team of champions"

Very impressive. He looks about as good as Underhill, the Currys and a few other young flankers who have been touted as the saviour of the England backrow. I sure Jones was watching.

Well done and congratulations Exeter, showed Wasps why it's important to hold onto the ball and build pressure rather than looking for the miracle play all the time.

Just on the Hughes thing, he looks like he's put weight back on lately. Coincidence that he had easily his best game for over a year?

So I have a question...was at the game yesterday and we were sat almost exactly square on to the penalty given against Hughes at the end of normal time. Looked for all the world to us like a perfectly good turnover, Hughes was in a great position, first man in. So figured JP Doyle must have pinged him for hands on the floor as obviously we couldn't see something like that. Then flashed up on the big screen that it was given for no release in the tackle...but Hughes was clearly not part of the tackle. Watched it this morning on replay and still can't work out why he gave it. The more I watch it the more it looks a legitimate turnover. Anyone?

I'm neither a Wasps nor an Exeter fan btw.

Overall was a great game, Exeter fully deserved their win. Amazing atmosphere. Exeter are an incredibly fit team, could tell Wasps' legs were gone from about the 70th minute but the Chiefs just kept coming.

Ref might have decided Hughes was off his feet before effecting the turnover, and the ref certainly told him to get his hands off, so even if Hughes thought the ref wrong it's an odd play to make that close to your posts when the ref has warned you. I can't remember what signal the ref actually gave, but I do remember he told 8 to leave it so Hughes is an idiot in that moment

Of course it might be Launchbury never released and that's what was pinged, and the ref would have looked to let it go but for Hughes then having his hands on

I get that JP told 8 to leave it, and in Hughes' defence the noise at that particular time was insane, I literally couldn't hear the person sat next to me, but there must have been a reason? Hughes wasn't off his feet and it looks to me like Launchbury rolls away pretty quick sharp. Dunno, just for such a crucial decision would be nice to see some clarity from the referee.

I was assuming that it was for Launchbury not rolling away and blocking the Exeter clearers. Whatever it was for, JP Doyle leant right in and shouted, "Hands away 8! Leave it 8!" so he was an idiot for not doing as he was told.

Hughes did have a great game apart from that one moment though. Probably the best I've ever seen from him.
