Well that's it for Northland for the year, for some reason I woke up at 3am so pulled the game up on Mobdro (if you don't have the app I highly recommend it) with the Taniwha with their nose in front only to see Wellington roll over them. Ah well, was a far better season as a Northland supporter than it's been in quite sometime. Can't see anyone stopping Wellington now.

Fun fact: Wellington was the first province to win the Ranfurly Shield.

Wellington was also the first province to take the Log on tour and played all of the other major unions at their home stadiums. This was after WWI and was a marvelous gesture to help the nation get back on its feet. No other province did this in the 20th century, and I'm not sure it's been done since, although there have been rule changes requiring the teams to defend it away from home.

Just spotted this in the Wellington reserves - a Dutchman! This guy has actually played for Holland. Wonder if he got on the pitch for Wellington last weekend...
