Me neither. Seems a shame to leave it to its unicorn overlords.

I was looking forward to campaigning for that as their intro music.

Didn't someone suggest it was either Dundee OR Stirling? With that in mind is it that bad a decision?

I do agree that the distribution is wrong though.

Bring in Hawks and Dundee to make a super 8 and it looks a lot more balanced.

It was one from each district plus 2 others or 2 from Edinburgh as it turns out.

Never would consider myself a Weedge but I'm a bit pissed off by that tbh. 3 from embra but none from Glasgow? Bullshit.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

The Hawks bid was one of the worst of all apparently.

Dundee bid would have lost due to finance I think.

I can see why the SRU have chosen what they see as the the best bids to start off the S6.

I wonder if Heriot Watt tied themselves to Melrose rather than Currie given the have a borders campus.

I completely agree that the geographical distribution is all wrong and understand that people are aggrieved but it came down to the quality of the bids as Big D says. How do we know that the Hawks reps didn't just show up with a single slide powerpoint with a bunch of pictures on it? The last thing the SRU want is a Super 6 side they'll have to bail out. Having said that 3 Edinburgh clubs competing for the same fan base? Doesn't make sense at all.

I just hope that it the reasons for rejection have been made totally transparent to those that didn't succeed so they can come back to the table with an improved bid.

The strangest of all is that 'Muir and Watsonians are a piss in the wind away from each other.

Let's be honest I bet they wanted Hawks in the S6. The fact they aren't points to their big being poor

So there was no aberdeen bid
the dundee bid was a bit of a shambles
the glasgow bid was poor

I think watsonians or bmuir should have been ditched but then Hawks need to look at the bid they did

All signs point towards this yup. To have two clubs that close together suggests some bids fell well short of the standard required. I just hope that constructive feedback and support is given to resolve this. Scotland needs a Glasgow side in there.

Ayr are considered a "Glasgow" club, being firmly located in Glasgow District. I can't imagine many actual weegies see it that way, though, and probably takes less time to get to Boroughmuir or Watsonians than Ayr for most folk in Glasgow.

Competing for the same fan base is the bit that doesn't make sense to me. A big concern is that any of the Edinburgh clubs may have made sense if they were the only side but if they have to compete with two others? What's the knock on impact on the pro-side too? There should be a silver lining for Glasgow there but they have capacity issues at scotstoun as it is.

Also a bit surprised that Currie aren't one of the Edinburgh sides. Not such a historic name but have a decent reputation for being well run and they've turned out some good talent in the past decade.

If Heriot Watt hitched themselves to the Melrose bid then then facilities available to Currie are pretty poor. Their pitch was a bit of a cabbage latch last time I saw.
