Wouldn’t have mattered. He was always going to choose Italy.
Why? I don’t believe that’s the case at all. We showed no interest and Italy did. Our loss.
From what I’ve heard and read he’s pretty attached to his Italian heritage and he obviously played for the Italy u20 and felt some allegiance. If you’re saying that had he stayed in the academy system and been in and around Eng age grade he might have chosen England then you might be right. If you were saying the had Eddie Jones called after his breakthrough at Glos I think you’d be wrong.
Possibly, but I also read an interview with him when he joined Gloucester talking about still being EQ, which suggests it wasn't cut and dried. Obviously we're both speculating, but either way, it would have been nice to put his commitment to Italy to the test. Prior to the 6 Nations last year, he'd had been making a real impression and had Eddie called him in to a training camp, it might have made him think twice or at least postpone his decision. As it is, I wish him all the best with Italy. He's a cracking player and IMO, he and Seb Negri have the potential to become the best 6 and 7 combination Italy have ever had.

Overall Bris did well up until h/t but couldnt really cope in the 2nd half. They shouldnt be too dismayed. They will improve but already have the look of a side who could comfortably stay up. Injuries might tell over a long season, but for now, they should be reasonably content.
Whenever it comes to discussing young, English flankers, Ludlow rarely gets mentioned as a future England contender and I don't really know why? It's bizarre considering Lewis Ludlam almost always does (perhaps he's one of those that gets better by not playing)?
Ludlow is potentially more of a 6.5 than and out-and-out 7. He's maybe not as good at the breakdown than Underhill or the Currys but I'd argue he is a better carrier/link player, he's fairly quick and isn't lacking in physicality or aggression. I'm always impressed when I watch him.
