TBH, Ben Morgan should probably be on this list.
Eddie has mostly ignored him in favour of lesser players IMO. He could (and should) have picked another 10-15 caps over the past few years.

Good point - I hope Morgan does get a another look in as our other backup 8 options have not been able to replicate the power from a standing start that an on form Billy manages to (though I do agree lack of line out jumping is a limitation in Billy’s skill set which could be better exploited by those competing for his berth in particular Hughes).
Speaking of No.8s Mick Watson was another I missed out and both Steve Ojomoh and Chris Sheasby had a style at no.8 seemingly much better suited to the game post 1993 than Dean Richards who by that time was well past his peak imo. Both merited more caps imo.

Billy V takes the odd lineout. Armitage is big and short, definitely not an option.

Mike Teague should have had at least another 20 caps for England but was blatantly ignored for 4 years after making his full debut in NZ in 1985. When you consider how terminally shoite England were in that period its even more mystifying.

He was contemporaneous with Dean Richards as an 8 and Jon Hall as a 6 though. Plus England were fiddling around with trying to accommodate Winterbottom and Gary Rees. There were a lot of good back rows around during his time, though I agree he should have had more caps.

Was this a long standing issue or just Teague-ing problems?

Miking these sort of puns is just a step too far; we should really row back on this one.

Expected better from you. I'm as mystified as you (probably) as to why.

Morgan seems to have had a surge late in his career. I think EJ overlooked him conspicuously though. There is obviously some thing he doesn't rate in him for test level.

After his leg break he did have a couple of mediocre seasons tbf. Ackermann has reinvigorated the place and got the best out of all the old timers over there.
I do think Morgan is playing better than he has ever done, including his England years.
