Not sure on that pen. Other than evaporate, I’m not sure what the Welsh player could’ve done to get out of the way. Packer also didn’t actually have possession of the ball at the point of impact.

I agree, I thought Packer was whinging out of embarrassment mainly.

As when I had to admit to myself that Smith will probably be a better player than Ford, I feel a bit uncomfortable with the thought that I might think Rowland is a better player than Scarratt. Like the time you realise your first love isn’t the prettiest and funniest girl in town.

Ha! Probably true.

Well it isn't quite clicking in the three-quarters just now. Scarratt is presumably being played to get her up to speed as quick as possible. Both good options in any case.

Welsh defence should get some credit, they've done their homework and aren't getting suckered.

Oh yeah, both quality but I think Rowland is almost as good a runner whilst being a far superior distributor. Might just be Scarratt coming from a bad injury, as you say.

In the boozer so no sound.
A) any news on Dow?
B) was Monye’s halftime performance as cringeworthy as it looked?

A) taken to hospital is all I've picked up.
B) Swedish feed omits the half time show. I didn't miss it.

B - Yep.
I think you're right about Rowland. Other than her place kicking she looks to have the edge in every facet of her game. Player of the tournament contender if she carries on

Kudos to Wales. They’re 36 v 0 and they’re still chopsing like they’re in with a chance of winning.

What. A. Try. (ignore Scarratt’s forward pass)
It’s a low bar but…… this is far more entertaining than the England men.

Good game. Impressed by Wales… the ‘pro’ contracts seem to be making a difference. It will be interesting to see how England fare when/if the other nations catch up with pro contracts etc

Agreed. England need to find a way to avoid complacency otherwise one day they'll receive a shock. At present the culture seems good enough to reduce that but it must be a risk when you're humping most opponents every week.

Spirited effort from Wales but England have so much quality and organisation that its hard to keep them at bay.
I'm rating Rowland quite a bit too. Thought Matthews was outstanding.

This is what happened to the Kiwis on their most recent Northern jolly. They have yet to recover from the experience.

Can anyone tell me what the stoppage was ahead of the restart from Breach's (?) try, just after the long stoppage for Dow's injury?
Around me, we had thought the injury was head, so delighted to read it was leg, but couldn't think of any reason the match would stop at that point that was good for Dow.

Dow was off the field by then no?

Yep, Dow was off the field, match restarted with a penalty to England, we score; then when Wales are getting ready to restart, a water carrier comes on, and the England team have another huddle for a few minutes whilst the Welsh look confused and willing to start.

The medics (doctors) had all been involved with getting Dow sorted to go to hospital (so a pretty bad Injury). The requirement is to have a Doctor at pitchside so they had to wait for one of them to get back.

Thank you. We were fearing the worst around us.
Bit of an oversight to ALL go with her.
