That's an incredibly ungenerous interpretation, drawn from incredibly slow slow-motion. He's not aiming or looking down, he's wrestling with the opposition at the ruck, he's driving forwards - at real speed, there's miliseconds between the Munster player falling onto his knee, hitting the floor, and then his knee hitting his face. If he's done that deliberately, then it's an incredible act of skill and reactions.
Thought it was a comedy decision by the ref myself - poor call to rule it deliberate in the first place, then to declare it a red because the player was injured when the contact that actually injured him was the first one. It'll 100% get overturned on the citing review.
To me, the only cheap shot in that game was the Munster player who slid feet first into Graham when he dived for his try.

That's nonsense puja. He's not grappling with anyone. Ahern has been cleaned out and is driven across the ruck by another Northampton player. Watch it back. He has no serious shift of momentum or force applied by anyone, he's sealing off the side of a dead ruck. There is no reason for him to drag that right knee forward

Apologies, you are correct that he's not grappling with anyone. However watching that back in the inexorably slow slow motion confirms that he's not looking and the whole incident takes place over less than half a second. In real time, it's clearly not deliberate.

He drives his knee forward parallel to the ground into ahern, if there was some aspect of momentum his right knee have gone forward but also have gone towards the ground. The fact the knee travels parallel is clear of deliberate intent, just do the mechanics it yourself
It's a very low intensity ruck, blaming slow mo isn't appropriate

I reckon he knew what he was doing. That said, he might have a decent chance of getting off any ban. Hard to argue that his pretty minimal leg movement at a ruck was ‘reckless’, nor can you prove intent.

Yep, fair ban. I’m just stating there’s no admission he did it on purpose so I’m not sure what Puja is apologising for.
