Do we really still have doubts that it was exactly what Eddie told us it would be, for the reasons he told us it would be, and were blatantly obvious that those reasons were the case?

Yeah even if you’re fully on board with Eddie’s plan of blasting the players and sacrificing a few results in that period it’s hard to read that everything was going perfectly when Gustard decided to get out. Or was he simply lured away by Quins? That wasn’t my understanding of it but maybe so.

Taking anything Eddie says completely at face value doesn’t seem particularly wise either. Though he proved the doubters (except Oakboy) right about 2018 in the end.

Oh, taking the "things Eddie says" at face value is a fool's game at the time.
But when he tells you "I'm going to do X" and he then blatantly does X, and even gets the results he said to expect from X - it would feel churlish to go looking for alternative reasons for why he happened to be right, because surely X must have happened for reasons other than Eddie.

He has a long and "glorious" history of telling woppers - usually to troll the media/opposition, or take the highlight off his player. But he also has a history of telling us exactly what he's going to do - and of no-one believing him because of his reputation as a WUM.

Yeah, he told us straight up that results would suffer due to conditioning preparing for the world cup. And whilst we didn't win the final, we definitely looked very good in the world cup, and losing a one off game can happen to any coach. Making a final is always going to be a positive for me.

I was only really agreeing with Puja that surely the Gustard/Mitchell involvements likely had some effect amongst all that.

Assuming that we would have had the same upturn in performances regardless of that coaching position just seems a bit redundant. Not that it’s incorrect, I’m just not sure how anyone could know either way. I don’t view that as an attack on Eddie.

Maybe it’s just a reaction to all the slating he gets (some warranted, some not) but I feel like some people get a bit carried away with his oracle status.

On a different note it’s been a long time since I’ve seen ‘WUM’ used on here.
