That is surely a red card and penalty try?

That is an awful tackle. Penalty try or had he lost it already?

That's got to be a penalty try.

Not sure how that’s a penalty try. Maitland lost the ball? Yellow is the correct decision.

That has to be straight red. You can't knee someone in the back.

Our third try was from exactly the same situation though so you have to take off those 7

Has ball, defender makes contact illegally, loses ball due to contact which alters body shape and direction. Penalty try.

Textbook response is cut inside and/or change direction. You recycle the ball or you get the try as the defenders has flown past you. What a f*cking idiot. We are lucky they are penalising the tackle.

It was illegal but that isn't what prevented him from scoring the try imo. He dived way too early and lost possession.

For me.....he lost it after the contact but he didn’t lose it because of the ‘tackle’.

That's what it looked like to me.

I'd argue the contact had no bearing on losing the ball.

To take account of your edit.....he still ends up over the try line.

The offload to Nanai Williams was a beauty.

This Samoa performance might be the worst I've ever seen from any team.

How the fuck is MOTM not one of the flankers?

It doesn't matter where he ends up. It was an illegal tackle when the player is in the act of scoring. Being kneed in the ribs/back will impact everything after that. At the time he was fouled he was in full control of the ball and it was probable he was going to score. The fact he lost is after illegal contact doesn't mitigate the contact and punishment.

Not a great performance but a 5 point win and a clean sheet. Will hopefully give them a confidence boost because they will need to be better going forward.

I disagree. Congrats on the bonus point win.

I would have given it to Hogg. He was outstanding tactically.

Russell and back row next contenders. Gray probably after that.

I actually think that was a great performance (assuming the ball was as slippy as it looked). Some mistakes but defence was hugely improved, we had intensity, had a plan b when keeping it in hand was proving difficult, and just about kept our composure.
