We've made a bunch of changes but we really don't seem to have any sort of structure at all.

Good try for Steele following a good wee break by Johnson.

I could not be getting more wrong today

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Hogg is directly on his head if he doesn't put his arm out.

At least he wasn't charging in from a couple of meters.

Thought that was going to be a try

Good line initially and then good strength from Johnson. I will be expecting some acknowledgement in his post match comments.

Not sure how to feel about that. Delighted that we scored so many and put some good stuff together. Slightly disappointed that we still looked messy and unorganized and I feel we could a shoulda scored more.

Nice scoreline v a poor team.

That ref is so inconsistent. Really don't think he is a good ref.

Unhygienix? Maybe that makes Ritchie Fullyautomatix and Nel is actually Geriatrix.

Italians need a dose of magic potion.

Can't be unhappy with that. Nice to remember what our strike runners are like compared to ten years ago.

Always gets scrappy when it's so easy but I do feel that with Finn at 10 and Hogg at 15 we might have kept a bit more structure and got 70 - Italy are that bad.

Mind, I don't really see the point in kicking them out the 6N unless there is a replacement lined up.

Dogmatix = D'Arcy G?

Hard to know what to make of a game against Italy right now. Our defence was good but rarely stressed. Skill levels in attack could be improved. So nothing new. Must have been fun, though.

Did they just say the England based players aren't being released for the France game?

I'm weirdly disappointed to be honest. Seeing that we continue to make the same stupid errors when faced with the least pressure we will ever get at this level.

Maybe we were holding back, one eye on Friday, new structures etc. etc. but it's the same unforced errors that prevent us from winning games like the Ireland or Wales one when the opportunities arise. Italy were just so inept today that enough of the shit we flung at the wall happened to stick.

The game was over a long time back so maybe it's hard to maintain intensity and composure, and it was a side with many changes but the cohesion just wasn't remotely there in terms of a performance that would have made a dent against better sides.

Can't really argue with scoring 50 points. Italy were truly dreadful but still needed to be put away.

However the lack of jeapordy in the game did mean that I sat back and watched a bit more critically than normal. I actually thought that most of the pack had decent games and we carried well. Gilchrist in particular was miles better than he's been recently and Watson/Ritchie showed they were a class above their counterparts
Howeverr it did show that Hogg is probably only really injury cover at ten, we did struggle to maintain attacking shape at times.

Still, Jones looked really quick and strong, Duhan was having fun (though I agree with Guscott that he could be in off his sing a bit more) and Maitland looked assured (though that may be because he's used to playing ND1 level).

Hogg is only playing 10 due to injuries to be fair.

Can't agree on GG I thought he looked weak in contact. Will need to watch again.
