Glasgow look tired. We'll see how their fitness really is here.

Reckon this is about right. Connacht were niggly and good value for the win. Can see why they've been successful this season. It'll be interesting to see how Glasgow try to combat their game plan and what more they can bring to the table. Their scrum-half looks a good player.ARM wrote:Fair play to Connacht. Deserved that - were the better team even before the sending off.
Think Glasgow can beat them next time. Dunbar was and will be a big miss.
That's awful if the case.ARM wrote:Any news on Dunbar.
Looked a lot like an ACL..
Probably rearranged all of that expensive surgery.. But maybe the Knee Fairy will take pity..?ARM wrote:Any news on Dunbar.

Aye, Glasgow had the momentum after Reid's try and Puafisi destroyed it. Weeg probably could have played another 40 mins and not broken that defence. Weeg could have possibly held on for a draw if Gray hadn't needlessly given Connacht that field position.Cameo wrote:Im not as negative about that game as some of you. Connacht were good but I was confident until the (deserved) red. Only losing by 7 and putting some serious pressure on in the last ten with a man down for 30 mins is quite impressive too. Not too much needs to change for the semi just a bit more accuracy but that is easier when it is drier
I thought Strauss was decent actuallyhugh_woatmeigh wrote:Aye, Glasgow had the momentum after Reid's try and Puafisi destroyed it. Re Dunbar, he was limping off with assistance so perhaps it isn't that serious. Best we could hope for is a meniscus tear perhaps... worth asking Which Tyler what he thinks.
Re Peterson.. doubt he would have made any difference really as the red card was the game changer. Glasgow definitely missed some grunt in the tight though. I think Ashe and Favaro would have made a much bigger difference. Strauss had one of 'those' days. When he can't physically overpower the opposition there is no plan B. Ashe is fair bit smaller but much, much more dynamic and quick off the mark. I would drop Wilson entirely and start with Ashe and Favaro with Strauss covering.

during hte latter 20 mins of the first half the game was crying out for a few pick and gos to keep the defenders in tight with then 2 or 3 options from the back of the ruck, we didnt do it and when we started doiung it we started looking good but then the flying headbut pretty much ended it
In two minds about that. On one hand he should be breaking through into the 23 much easier there. On the other hand if he has international ambitions then Newcastle is not the place to go. Every Scotsman that has gone to Newcastle pretty much killed their international career. It's hardly surprising they play dire rugby and will most certainly be relegated next year if Bristol come up.Big D wrote:Andrew Davidson signs with the Falcons.
At 19 or 20 I wouldn't be too worried about him ruining his Scotland chances by being down there for a couple of seasons. Even if they are big favourites to go down.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:In two minds about that. On one hand he should be breaking through into the 23 much easier there. Glasgow look very light at lock now. Gray, Api, Petersen & Cummings.
Playing at 6 as he fills out may not be a bad thing though I guess? 105kg/16.5 stone is pretty light for a second row for now especially given the Newcastle tight 5 aren't the best.hp18 wrote:He's still an U20, international ambitions should be the last thing on his mind. Furno is leaving, as he bulks up he'll have opportunities. He's not as physically developed as Cummings but could be a beast as he fills out. He's got the frame for it, but it'll take a couple of years.
He's also (imo) not a 6. He played there a fair bit due to lots of locks but only Richie viable at blindside. He's ahead of Hunter-Hill.
Any and all pro gametime will do him good, but I can't see past lock for him in a couple of years.Big D wrote:Playing at 6 as he fills out may not be a bad thing though I guess? 105kg/16.5 stone is pretty light for a second row for now especially given the Newcastle tight 5 aren't the best.hp18 wrote:He's still an U20, international ambitions should be the last thing on his mind. Is it just a case of not wanting 2 of 5 locks to be fresh out the U20s for Toonie?
Must be his swansong. Handy to have him around for another year because I can't see him getting back into the Scotland camp (barring an injury meltdown) so he will bring a wealth of experience and his usual 110 per cent commitment during the international periods.hp18 wrote:New one year deal for Lamont
I'd rather they just gave him the summer off.ARM wrote:Apparently Dunbar is out of semi and final if we get there but is still talking about being available for the summer tour.
