Not quite sure what other options there were anyway. AWJ isn't guaranteed a test spot. Rory Best fails to inspire, Hartley is a poor choice all round & we have options.

If we aren't picking squad on 6N performance why not make your captain the one captain who has managed to be in a team that has actually beaten the ABs this year. Not a player who was dropped as his country's captain due to the pressure of being a captain hindering his performance as a player. Its basically 2005 all over again.

I do expect at least 3 Scots, probably Hogg- Seymour and Watson. 3 Is the minimum they have gone for in the past. Only Hogg to see Test action though.

Only 2 went to NZ on the original party.

In 2005 we couldnt tackle and couldnt score tries under Matt Williams

compare that to now and its amazing that we still only have 2

Warburton has been Lions captain before. There are a few reasons he relinquished the Welsh captaincy but I'm ok with him being your captain.

Much happier with him than AWJ.

6N form is important for most of the squad. I can almost understand picking the odd player who is experienced on Lions tours.

Sadly given those out injured I wouldn't take more than 4 Scots.

Which is a shame because there was an argument for double that at one point.

But we make lots of arguments not to take scots

For example if these welsh boys were scottish we would make these arguments against them

1/2p done anything to deserve to go ahead of Seymore, Maitland, Mike brown, Rob Kerney , hasnt scored a try at international level in years, got outpaced by Keith friking earls
North - managed to score in a corner against Ireland and score against Italy, got rounded by Visser - does he really deserve to go based on the fact that he got rounded
JD - Can kick under pressure, cant pop a simple ball to a runner to score, - does he deserve to go
Falatau - part of bath that got pumped by Sarries
Warburton - completly got outshined by Watson and part of a team that got turned over 17 times, what the hell was he doing that day, cant handle the cpataincy of his country but somehow he can manage a lions tour
AWJ - cant last 60 mins, cant stamp any authority on a game and then winges about it after

Faletau has been immense whenever I've seen him recently to be fair. Right about AWJ though, why everyone still has such a massive bonk on for him I'm not sure.

He gets tons of free positive PR from the Welsh press. How the fuck can they justify him going over Launchbury?

Because he's mean and a relentless warrior and has the heart of a dragon and loads of other weird shit like that.

Oh and he never takes a backwards step. Can't forget that one.

They were all competitive against the only top 3 team in the 6N.

And got done by Scotland.

I wouldn't be using Earles outpacing 1/2p as an argument when Kearney rounded Hogg in the Ireland game.

Few of those above impact scottish selection.

1/2p will be 2nd/3rd full back not wing.

North may block our wings.

JD is taking JJ's place. Jones may have had a shot pre injury.

Faletau is proven class and has been playing pretty well when I've seen him play.

Warburton is going as a 6/7. Watson is only a 7. He v Tipuric is fairly close.

AWJ shouldn't be going. But I'd take Launchbury. I assume that's Borrhwicks choice.

you missed my point, if they were scottish we would have eliminated them for those reasons, because they are not we use other metrics to justify them

How many of those lads (Falatau) aside would you have over scottish players

Hogg v 1/2p
NOrth v Seymore
JD over Dunbar/Jones/Scott/Benet
AWJ over either Gray

Falatau would get in, but his form aint been great this year and we would be looking at dropping him, wait he did get dropped for Wales

Jamie Roberts cant even get in the wales team but the guy keeping him out isnt even on any radar

I'm not looking at this as Scotland v the rest. I'm looking at the best squad.

Hogg v 1/2p? Both will be in the squad.
NOrth v Seymour? If have both in swiad
JD over Dunbar/Jones/Scott/Benet? This comparrision makes little sense. JD is a 13. Dunbar doesn't play there at international level, Bennett is injured and done nothing at international level for a while, Scott can't get picked for Scotland and Jones may well have gone but is injured. Joseph is the one missing out not a Scot.
AWJ over either Gray. Again, launchbury looks like the one to miss out not a gray.

Dunbar is missing out if Roberts gets picked.

Slightly related note is Gray Snr and Scott injured? Not seen them play for a while.
