A league game I think. Shame as he was starting to look promising made some very quick runs etc.

bad luck blighted a career, that was still top notch by most standards

Just seen the Chiefs team...bloomin’ strong squad they’ve got. Cowan-Dickie and Dave Ewers on the bench, Sam Hill and Devoto midfield.

CHIEFS SIDE TO FACE SCARLETS

15 Phil Dollman
14 Tom O’Flaherty
13 Ollie Devoto
12 Sam Hill
11 James Short
10 Joe Simmonds
9 Stuart Townsend
1 Alec Hepburn
2 Shaun Malton
3 Moray Low
4 Toby Salmon
5 Sam Skinner
6 James Freeman
7 Matt Kvesic
8 Kai Horstmann (capt)

16 Luke Cowan-Dickie
17 Carl Rimmer
18 Greg Holmes
19 Ed Holmes
20 Dave Ewers
21 Jack Maunder
22 Sam Morley
23 Tom Hendrickson

Very strong line up. Injury situation is easing with several players now available.

Not sure why Maunder is on the bench behind Townsend - feels like this tournament is the ideal opportunity to get him match-fit again and he's easily the better player.

If Toby Salmon isn’t the finest lineout jumper the game has ever seen its an utter waste of a surname.

Much like Saints starting with Reinach and Myler two weeks running in the 'development' competition. It should really be Michell and Grayson, and I'd put money on the team playing better last week if they had that combo as most of the rest of the team are used to playing with them in the A league team.

How is Beesley getting on? Any chance he might trouble a Premiership squad?

Not without any injuries I don't think, seems to be going alright when he has played for the Wandies, but nothing outstanding. Ehren Painter looks more promising and like he be become an absolute monster, although I think he plays the other side to Beesley.

I'm still open to the idea either of them could progress. Certainly it's an example of where we get into a club Vs country issue not being able to move them both into starting berths

Happy with that first half regardless the result Tigers should be very please with the players we got coming through IMO.

Hardwick, Olowofela, Simmons, White, Lewis, Reffell all teenagers and not looking out of depth against a much more experienced Bath side.

Absolutely fuming with the finish to that game. The penalty try was absolutely the right call as we were getting minced in the scrum, but the succession of lineout penalties were a joke. Wells gets penalised for "swimming up the side" despite being as close to the middle of the maul as it was possible to get. Then Maksymiw gets a yellow for "bringing the maul down" despite it being because Bath tripped over while being driven sideways. The officials had the picture in their mind of what was happening and were looking at an offence for every maul.

Mind, it's good that I'm annoyed considering I thought we'd get rinsed. Some good performances there and some good grit shown. Simmons looked much better at 15 than 9 and I liked Hardwick's work in the second half to get around being targetted by the rush defence.

Tuilagi once again looked like someone who'd never really played rugby, but was willing to give it a try. Made negligible metres, looked notably uncomfortable ball in hand, wasn't imposing in defence, and his performance at the base of scrums was woeful - he was lucky Bath didn't have an experienced scrum half or he'd've been caught more time than just for the Mercer try. Sadly, I feel he's out of his depth at this level and is only really here because of the family name.

Good effort from a young Tigers side but their weak scrum, under pressure all game, eventually cost them. After a scratchy start this was a good, competitive game i thought.
Hardwick impressed me. Ben White underwhelmed. I know this lad is highly thought of but i'm not seeing much to get that excited about.
Mercer made quite an impact from the bench, enhancing his reputation.

In other games, Sale had a good win at home to Saracens, 29-22, with Ben Curry scoring again.
Wasps had a very good result at Ospreys, winning 36-12

Anyone see the Quins vs. Worcester game?

I would have gone but the replacement bus service would have made it a nightmare.

13 tries, so sounds as though I missed an entertaining game!

I don’t think I could have handled that game after yesterday.

So... can Cowan-Dickie place kick or is this just the BBC being as shit as they often are?

ha, no LCD didnt kick 3 conversions.

Dismal game. Scarlets very much a scratch young side who were hopelessly outgunned. LCD and Ewers came off the bench and had a decent run out.

None of the Welsh sides put up much of a performance this weekend.

Radwan with another good try for Newcastle. Definitely looks like one to watch.

Good to see James Chisholm back on the park and scoring,

The Irish 9 was happy to slide in on try scorers. It didn't look flat out bad, and he's hardly hitting with a lot of power, but he wouldn't need to do much more before he was being a little naughty
