It looks like Haskell deleted the tweet, but it was a British soldier kneeling, and either captioned with or - worse - Hask commenting something like 'Time to Kneel'.Peej wrote:Hang on. What's happened?

Ah. Appears his 2 active braincells eventually got to work and he deleted the tweet.

There are so many levels to how idiotic this is. He really is a complete fucking moron. I can only imagine what his books are like.
Maybe the likes from Farage, BNP, Griffin etc. set off the alarm bells.

Looks like he's deleted it, probably because his publishers pointed out he should be promoting his new book, not fighting a culture war. Thankfully, the internet never forgets:Peej wrote:Hang on. What's happened?

The cynic in me thinks he knows exactly what he is doing. He is angling to be a right wing grifter 'comedian' that complains about getting cancelled (while freely posting on social media and talking to audiences). Getting "cancelled" is just a meal ticket.
It's pretty short sighted honestly. These people never turn out well in the end. Remember milo?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milo_Yiannopoulos

I think you're right - he's angling to be the new Laurence Fox. Apparently, while shilling for his book on GMB, he said something along the lines of, "If you're permanently offended, like so many people are looking to be nowadays, don't worry about buying my book. If you like a laugh, then do." Twat.twitchy wrote:Puja wrote:Looks like he's deleted it, probably because his publishers pointed out he should be promoting his new book, not fighting a culture war. I guess running at halfbacks as a backrow forward makes you more comfortable with punching down than other, actual comedians would be.

Ugh, right.
So, maybe the benefit of the doubt is that he believes it's right to show respect for service personnel at Armistice. And he hans't realised the implication of that Britain First-esque content that believing in the existence of racism is 'wokery'. Basically, he's fallen into the trap of sharing fascist material because why wouldn't you respect the forces and hasn't thought about the deliberate exclusion implicit beyond that? i.e. he's an idiot.
However, maybe he is just hitching his wagon to the "I'm being cancelled Posted from Twitter" grift. Either way, idiotic.
This is without going into the illogicality of how you stand and salute the forces, you don't kneel, and that that is actually an American Special Forces operator and nothing like the British forces.

And the fact that rather than kneeling, he appears to have just finished a superhero landing.Peej wrote:This is without going into the illogicality of how you stand and salute the forces, you don't kneel, and that that is actually an American Special Forces operator and nothing like the British forces.

Weirdest thing is I've seen him talk about homosexuality, particularly the use of gay as a slur, and he was contrite about having done that and could see how it was wrong. I'm sure he can extrapolate that to race etc.Puja wrote:I think you're right - he's angling to be the new Laurence Fox. From what I've seen of him I don't think he's quite a Laurence Fox type but after developments in the world after the last few years I wouldn't be surprised. It's not just those who think it though, there's those who are quite happy to say it for money. Being a shill is a good cash in - see Candace Owens. Maybe Hask should go the other way and shill for green lobby while simultaneously driving his JCB about in true Arch Bishop of Banterbury style..
Best thing Hask ever did was those videos with 'his mate Owen'. In fact, Owen Farrell being annoyed while Haskell is being a Gervais-esque caricature of himself is possibly the most likable Owen Farrell has ever come across too.

Re: The Final Hask
I suspect we're reading too much into this. His rather ill advisedly putting out that cartoon is likely more about support for the troops than any idea such as the BLM movement isn't important. Hask isn't going to be accused of being intelligent anytime soon, and he's something of a selfish I'm alright jack true blue voter with a privileged background, but I'd be very surprised if he was anything akin to an actual racist. It'd have been better if he'd stayed quiet on this one, but I often think it'd be better if he stayed quiet, he'd likely think that was boring and indeed I was boring for not wanting the perpetual babble/banter/drivel spouting forth. Laurence Fox he isn't

more perpetual could be the norrm, in the quest for perfection in all areas; there will come a time when he accepts he has peaked.

You’re giving him far too much credit. He’s just a bit dim and has done a dim thing.
