That's a key error in a game this tight.

Fucking hell. We going to have to bring Graham back in at 15?

Horrendous. No less than what is deserved for that kind of mistake.

No Horne or Hutchinson? The ultimate attacking team refuse to use two of their best attackers?

Scotland are starting to resemble the worst days of the Williams era... Just aimless directionless error strewn rugby, players making bad decisions slowly all game every game.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Yep. Truly horrendous stuff. What is our plan? Who were we hoping would make a telling impact in that last 30?

I can just picture GT dropping Price to the bench but parachuting Pyrgos in to start.

Hogg's mistake cost us the game but the lineout could have changed thing significantly. I don't have stats to hand but a 40% accuracy vs a 90% accuracy in favour of England wouldn't surprise me.

Oh and I hope that puts the Price argument to bed. He wilts under pressure in crunch games every... single.... time.

Kicking the ball back to England on 79.5 minutes was so bad I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

And worse, it's apparently contagious.

Hard luck, scotland fans, painful enough to be on the winning side.

In hindsight it's looking a bit thick to have done a training camp in Spain/the Algarve or wherever the hell it was.

Just back from the game.

Firstly, I have never been as cold in my life.

Secondly, the first kicks to touch instead of taking the points were the right call. I think that was the windiest I have ever seen Murrayfield. Penalties were less than 50/50 call.

Thirdly, that was shite.

Well at least that's over. An appalling game where the conditions that was always going to be a bit random. I'm sure that there were some stupid decisions in there but I don't actually care at this point. Three main takeaways for me:

1. McInally carried well when he came on. I'd rather have that over Browns slightly superior turnover ability which comes alongside the ability to piss off the ref. McInally starting and Brown when the game breaks up is the right way around for me.

2. That bench selection was wrong. If ever there was a game for WFD this was it.

3. Maitland had a shocker, even when taking the conditions into account. Kinghorn is much more comfortable at 15 than on the wing. With Graham and Seymour retired injured we are really short on genuine wing options.

Actually:

4. What was Price doing at the end? Had he just given up and wanted a warm shower?

5. What went wrong with the lineout? Everything was contested or overthrown. Kudos to the English who had evidently done their homework and were consistently in the right place but an international lineout has to be better than that.

Maybe I'm not over it.

On the flipside. Zander Fagerson... holy f*ck. Only just turned 24 as well.

He's a couple of seasons in a forward oriented league like the T14/GP & a few sessions with an anger management specialist off being genuinely world class.

It’s a nice turnaround isn’t it. I was starting to think either he’d just been played into the ground already (though still need to be very cautious of this) or simply didn’t have the temperament to perform like this at the top level.

Why does it seem like every time one problem area makes a step forward another couple appear?

Considering his injuries and lack of game time Sutherland has been very decent too IMO.

Thought the props, Cummings and the back row did pretty well yesterday. Tactics had changed slightly when they were knocking the English back in the 5 but a bit of composure and some interesting reffing let England away with it.

Mind u our line out went to shit

Really can't take much from that game. Thought first half we were a little clueless but fro mins 40-65 we played the conditions really well when I thought we might get pinged back.

Replacement props a bit of an issue but we have what we have and at least Sutherland has cemented the spot.

For me, the frustrating thing is that even though all the mistakes and dropped balls were individually excusable in the weather, we made so many more of them than England. We also just didn't have any moments where I thought: 'Good take, didn't think he would take that one'.

Back row feels a bit neutered too. With Ritchie and Watson as well as Brown it feels like we should've getting more turnovers.
