A couple of dim penalties. He's such a beast though, so explosive a little polish could bring out a real diamond.
One of which was harsh. Both the sort of marginal stuff you’d expect from his style. I think he’s pretty smart already frankly. His technique and decision making are very decent imo
I was thinking particularly of the one from the first lineout where he is the second man in a big hit on Hughes. Text book defence, very good. Then clearly never releases and turns slow ball on half way into a lineout in his own 22. Inexcusably stupid and if he does that against Exeter it'll be 7 points. A little more experience and he leaves the ball, reloads and then is ready to smash the next ball carrier, opposition go nowhere and kick. Just a little polish and he could step up another level and be an international player for a decade.
I thought he did release actually. Taylor was the tackler and Willis only assisted and let go. That was the call that was imo harsh.
Plus you can’t play the way he does without conceding the odd penalty.

Big and average. He works hard but I imagine he's seen as a short term stop gap at international level. At 29 he's not really one for the future and Wales are short on locks. He was never going to get near England contention.
Still, I’d have him over Ball and Beard
Stroll into Tigers
Doesn't matter who you out into the Tigers side at the minute. Tactics and systems are at best half finished.

One arm on the body at all times for me. If you're the second man in the tackle you've got to show the ref both hands before you compete. It's been that way for years it's not something new in the interpretations.

There's plenty of refs that would have let him have that though. In fact, I'd reckon that Nigel Owens would have let him have it, since he came away with the ball, and that tends to be what he's ahppy with.

Finally managed to tune in and that's what I got. He really doesn't sound comfortable. Can't tell if he's just bored or is reading off a script or something.

Thanks for the heads up, I’m so much better informed. We disagree at what happened, not the interpretation. Crack on. He remains a very good player, and I agree can improve- though most agree he’s been easily the most influential player since the restart.
Parisse literally did what Willis did but more deliberately when Toulon played Leicester and it led to a try. Refs are still very hit and miss on it so I don’t blame Willis for having a go. As said previously, it could have been given either way regardless on what the rules are.
