So far if we don't drop the ball we score, the USA look as good as feared

Here's hoping that what Big Joe was really needing was a chance to enjoy some dominance in the sun - couple of matches as a flat-track bully, and 3 tries in a fortnight (or even 3 in a match!) could well work some magic with him

Five debutants. Was never going to be overly coherent. Smith and Randall have run down some blind alleys which hasn't helped the forwards they need some structure in order to keep up with those two firecrackers.

The front row looks solid and should grow into the game a little more after half time as England's attack becomes more coherent. McInally and Ewels are meh, Underhill doing well, Ludlow doesn't look like a long term option and Chick needs to get involved more.

Those haven’t been blind alleys, though. They’ve been one out. When smith was turned over, where were the forwards? It was right next to the last ruck. He should expect at least as good displays as for his club team considering Eddie’s focus on floor time.

Not good enough from the pack, don’t blame the half backs for playing rugby.

Doesn’t help that there’s no Rick clearing center on now as we went with a 6 bloody 2 split.

The whole team looks poor, but they are at least up to speed on giving away pointless penalties, so they're learning what will get them picked

I'll be honest, Ashton saying Smith tried to stop and 'couldn't' doesn't sound credible. Why is Ashton allowed on air? Does Ashton think couldn't means the same as couldn't be bothered?

Looking across England, the USA and the officials I'm trying to think of a positive. And I suppose it's nice and sunny

More boot than hand involved there.

Been a scrappy affair. The 6-2 bench has meant the England backline has lost a lot of its structure. The Randall charge down looked all about fatigue.

Badly, and that before one considers how bad the USA are, so actually worse than badly. But it's a scratch side, it is rather warm

As with everyone else - had a bit of a nap at half time - haven't woken up yet
