Given the issues they’ve had with place over the years I bet they wish they’d never given planning permission.

No idea. I suppose they could say it’s protecting jobs and local businesses who are creditors. Maybe there is a worry that the stadium will be bought by someone who will turn it into a year round events/concert/exhibition venue and kick the football club out.

My instinct is that the club in its current guise should be allowed to fail and start again/rebuild.

You'd think in the current climate that giving millions to a business that has shown no signs of breaking even, let alone making money, would be a tough sell to the local voters! You can have a smaller council tax raise or a big one so we can fund a club that'll go bust again in a year....
