That coupled with knowing he was a dirt tracker from day one didn't help. Think he lost a bit of love for the game, and where the move to France helped reinvigorate him. Just then the bloody knee injury(s) did for him Think he was only 27 or 28 when he retired.

12 has been a bit of a theme these past...20 years. As Mikey said.

Insane, really, that we can't produce a single allround 12.

I just sort of assumed that was Adam P taking a stab at his preferred England side.

Don't think Andy Robinson liked him either, if memory serves he omitted him even though he was playing well and that seemed to knock his confidence a bit.

Loffreda was another one that didn't seem to accept he'd help the midfield until towards the end of his solitary season at the helm and Ollie had already agreed the move to Brive

Knee injuries certainly blighted his career. Never made the impact I thought he'd have at Quins due to those injuries.

Yeah, in the infamous Mathew Tait debut against Wales, Ollie Smith was the form 13 in Europe, but Tait was new and shiny and the media's favourite and Robinson got the selection badly wrong.

The main thing was losing his dad suddenly though. That relationship was intertwined with his love for rugby and he was never the same player after that.

Yes, Ollie only relinquished his season ticket and his spot next to his dad at Welford Road when he started playing for the first team I believe.

Oh bugger.

I imagine Coles will come into the squad but if form meant anything Batley should be called up.

If nothing else he seems to be a try scoring machine. Weird for a lock.

Arse that's bad news. Hopefully it's only a knock and we don't have to make do for long. Coles could also come back in.
