2nd time Ritchie has come close to losing it well away from the ruck

And that is why I think Russell's loopy passes are largely luck.

Russell also MUST commit to rucks every now and again. You cannot pop a pass to an isolated forward running into 3 defenders and track back for the next play.

Scotland being constantly coached by the ref at the breakdown, Japan get penalised immediately.

I recognize I'm biased here but is that not because Scotland are listening while Japan know exactly what they are doing here (and who can blame them)

If Scotland score a try here we could end up with the same result we were looking at with no game! (Plus a couple of BPs)
Hell of a game

A good well coached side will usually beat a poorly coached side. Congrats to Japan.
Coaching staff must go.

We are suffering from not having the strike runners here. I know it shouldn't come down to creating something from nothing but when you have to, I want Hutchison or Jones on the pitch.
All in all, I am gutted but don't think we have been shocking tonight
Edit: By that I mean well done Japan!

I stopped running sideways with the ball around age 9 or 10. How about you lot? How about you Sam Johnson?

The difference when Harris found a bit of go forward was night and day…

If you had played with intensity in the first half it could have been different.

I hope Dodson doesn't even bother with the debrief. Sack the lot & devise your grand plan for RWC 2023.

Score with Laidlaw v score without?
Not sure his meerkat impression has been any use at for Scotland for years now.
