I don't get how this is a legal matter rather than just being offended that Dodson made them out to look bad and threatened legal action himself. Can Scotland now counter-sue for being offended that WR want to sue them?

It would help if the victims of the other cancelled fixtures had backbones. But given a few teams benefited from it why would they complain?

Whilst I can understand the SRU feeling that they did nothing wrong - particularly when you read the transcript of Dodson’s comments in Japan which were more measured than reported, it’s now being reported that the SRU was given the opportunity to donate to the Typhoon fund and apologise, but declined.

I have to say that it would have been more diplomatic to accept that offer and put this to bed. Even better if we had offered up the donation first before being asked. We’ve lost the PR battle badly and just come across as absolute plums. Sometimes you have to play realpolitik.

Dodson and his team have brought a more commercial and hard-headed approach in recent years, and to an extent that should be welcomed but diplomacy is far from a strong point and some of the behaviour is not particularly edifying - for example Keith Russell. For me, questions have to be asked about leadership and governance. Dodson has been in post a long time. Perhaps if the CVC deals get done then that will be time to move on to new management.

*note on CVC investment - the Sarries affair will have gone down like a cup of sick so soon after their investment in the GP. Not exactly conducive to enhancing commercial and media potential of the competition.

Agree on the donation. Not on the apology. Donation & both expressing regret over the situation would have been a fair compromise.

WR and their so called independent committee also refused to disclose details of conversations with other unions - so called independent committee didn't see how that was conceivably relevant to the idea that NZ called the shots and everyone else had to fall into line

I got 4 gold tickets right on the halfway line near the top of the east stand for the France game. There was a lot of availability in the cheaper seats at around 10.30 so I do wonder if it will go to public sale (can't imagine many french or english would be in the Scotland supporters club)

Would gladly trade them for a couple of Calcutta cup tickets if anyone has any going...

historically loads of away fans filled up Murrayfield. Been much less the case in the last half dozen years for a couple of linked reasons. We are better to watch and despite all the whinging, at Murrayfield are very usually competitive. That in itself makes demand from home fans higher, couple it with season passes and the uptake is very high.
Away fans used to flood the SRU site as soon as tickets went on public sale. Now there are few to no public sales for the bigger games, so determined away fans can and will sign up to the Scottish supporters club. I met 2 on saturday who had done just that. No idea how many others there are but given the scarcity of Calcutta Cup tickets and on line tout prices, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a good old number and growing
