Cleared of rape at the 2nd attempt. Wonder if the very vocal disparager's will come out of their hiding holes?
Personally I'd send him back inside for thinking a night out in Rhyl was a good idea!

So, was the new evidence the other fella who slept with the same girl at a different time or was it something else?

In this instance, the appeal judge decided that the girls previous sexual history was relevant. This was after two other men came forward and alleged to have had sex with her, one quite quickly after the alleged rape, with the details of the later episodes very similar to the version of events that Evans provided.

As a result, the conviction was no longer beyond reasonable doubt.

As an aside, the girl has had to change identities on numerous occasions as a result of an online twitter troll campaign where she is repeatedly named and threatened with violence.

None of this case is particularly pleasant reading.

Why one was guilty and the other innocent is a mystery, well unless I read the full trial report which I don't have the time or will to do. MacDonald took a far more active role in getting the girl from the street to the bedroom.

I was confused by the original verdict too and agree about MacDonald's role, but the other fella I was referring to was the third man who came forward after sleeping with the girl.

Even more murky when Evans and his team offered £50,000 for information to help clear his name.

Yes. It certainly muddies the waters at first glance. One would hope that their evidence was thoroughly cross checked, as much as possible, before being accepted. There is a bit of a backlash to this verdict, not unsurprisingly, and any potential for a stitch up would cause a serious stir.

Not that I condone the trolls but she also took to social media boasting about the money she would receive. She leaves her self wide open (insert your own joke) when doing shit like that.

Did she? I wasn't aware of that and my sympathy levels drop slightly, although no one deserves death threats.
