Very good player, from what I've heard a very fine man and brave to the end RIP 9.

He was awesome in his day. The first time I saw a scrum half that size. It was so desperately sad to see his later years bludgeoned by such an unforgiving illness.
God aan jou vrede gee, Joost

Remember seeing him cut down Jonah when I was 6. I emulate that everytime I see a big bloke running at me. Don't remember much else TBH but by fuck did he put up a fight against that bullshit condition.
Onya bro.

Sad to hear but a blessing for the poor bloke with such a shite disease, he epitomised everything good about the Boks a true competitor and outstanding player, possibly the best ever in his position in the world. RIP J9

So sad. What a player he was - probably my favourite from that era. That he will be remembered as fondly for his work in the last few years as he will be for his rugby says it all.

He was incredible to watch. We were all blessed to have borne witness to such great skill and ferocious determination. May he rest in peace.

Gosh, that's heartbreaking to watch, but uplifting at the same time that there are some folk that fight the hand they have been dealt with such dignity and courage. Great respect RIP.
