Racing to sack Ali:

Racing 92 president Jacky Lorenzetti says former All Blacks lock Ali Williams will be fired by the Top 14 club following his arrest for buying cocaine.

Lorenzetti told Midi Olympique magazine that "unfortunately, Ali Williams will soon be dismissed."

Williams and former Wallabies back James O'Connor were arrested last month outside a Paris nightclub. O'Connor was fined for cocaine use by the Paris prosecutor's office while Williams will face a hearing with the prosecutor for buying the equivalent of 2.4 grams of the drug.

Racing 92 had already suspended the 2011 World Cup winner as a precautionary measure and apologized to fans for the incident.

Lorenzetti added that Williams, who will appear before a French rugby disciplinary hearing this month, tested negative for cocaine after his arrest.

When drugs are an issue in people's lives, it is a health issue. It should not be a legal one. Prohibition is creating the problem, and not only because it has the potential to ruin job prospects, travel opportunities etc etc.

We need to stop demonising drugs and the people who use them by allowing politicians - remember the White House Reagans - to hurl vote-catching cliché's about. Many drug users cause no problems at all, nor suffer beyond the standard physical risks associated with other problems such as high sugar intake, tobacco/alcohol use and a sedentary lifestyle.

I've held myviews on the decriminalisation of drugs long before Ali Williams decided to have a night out with his good mate Charlie, you twit.

You are right unfortunately it's taken an All Black to do it to raise the issue in NZ but I still don't see how that's a bad thing.
