Wayne Smith to retire

The genius behind Henry and Hansen is chucking it in after this year's Rugby Championship.

Fuck.

I hope he's ok. Seems a bit odd to biff it in before RWC2019. I can't see him taking big $$$$ to go to Europe or anything.

Taking some time out from the game to spend it with family. Fair enough.

Bloody legend.

Bugger. He's definitely earned it, but I will hold out hope that he'll return for the 2019 RWC.

I wonder if Dave Rennie has an exit clause in his contract with Glasgow?

Presumably Schmidt and Cotter's heads will be turned. This is the primo slot to take before the top job. I don't think Foster is a real chance at taking over.

The Herald have mentioned Scott McLeod or John Plumtree as potentially replacing Smith when he steps down.
