I'd completely forgotten this was taking place. This Friday. Not sure about TV coverage (also not sure what we will learn from this other than its a warm up opportunity for an unsettled squad).

Welsh team is (Ive used normal team numbers but the media are using squad numbers - I think there will be a fist full of replacements in this game)

Good to have a run out I guess & blow some cobwebs off before the real action down under.
Some players on the bench who weren't named in the original squad such as Dillon Lewis & Scott Often.
Can't see the point in Cory Allen on the wing but decent enough team I guess considering the lions & injured players.
I'm old enough to remember Wales playing warm up games against Bridgend & Newbridge (I think it was) in the early 90's. Bridgend won I think.
It'll be a good day for RGC no doubt, sold out crowd of 5700. Great day for north Wales rugby.

James Davies, Cracknell and Habberfield must wonder what they've done wrong.

Aaaanyway... should be fun. Assuming Wales XV are allowed to play some rugby. I expect they plan to wear RGC down over the first 60 minutes and score a couple of tries at the end*.



*Hopefully this is a joke.

RGC have drafted in a few extra players so should make a game of it for a while at least.
Billy McBryde was one another was Sean Lonsdale ex RGC who signed for Exeter Chiefs last season.
Can't remember the others.

Our coaches ...whoever they are now...will mark it as a tactical success as we ground them down.

Boom!!! Even a close win would be hugely embarrassing (no disrespect to RGC) but even a depleted national squad should be able to manage that game comfortably.

The U20's should be able to win this comfortably.

I just got back from work to see the last 12 minutes.

Anything learned from this? Any stand out performances?

Was impressed by young Seb Davies, ran some excellent lines & made good metres.
Cory Allen & Gareth Anscombe were a class apart from the rest. Always had time & space on the ball, made ground at will. Too many times the Welsh players were looking for contact.
Tyler Morgan showed flashes but seemed to be struggling at times.
Tom Hughes the RGC centre looked impressive, especially in defence. Sean Lonsdale at lock seems a good prospect too, big unit & mobile.
Don't think we can read anything into that performance though. It was a training session that was televised, the players will have got some rustinness out of their legs before the tour which is good.
And it was a great occasion for RGC & north Wales rugby as a whole. Good to see a packed out passionate crowd enjoying the game.

Nice to see a referee not being a total pedant too

Sadly my internet connection was pretty poor so saw very little. The point about looking for contact is hugely frustrating. We seem to want to play anti rugby. This coaching approach needs to change.

Yes, that's my point. I'd like us to develop a looser style, but the PIs are the worst place to experiment with that...
Given the "depth" of coaching talent on this tour it would probably make sense to keep it tight, even if that's a bit boring from our POV. And they're hardly going to send McBryde off with a remit to develop our style regardless of results.
