If it's true (and I am sceptical about this as the Toulon Chairman is a madman) then I would imagine he would get better money offers in England, the WRU can't pay what they don't have.

I'd imagine theres a queue of English and French clubs ready to throw money at him TBH.

He has stated that he'd like to give soup rugby a shot after the 2019 RWC, surely he wouldn't go before and end (you'd think) his Wales hopes.

Ah right thanks I hadn't heard that before. Looking at they way some of the NZ 15's in super rugby counter attack he would have to change his game completley

Not quite confirmed but not looking likely that he'll still be in Toulon next season.

Boudjellal really is a prize tosser.

Too expensive for Wales, better to have him in England or France with full release for Wales, let them pay his giant wages.

Yes he is. Does he really have the game's best interests at heart? I doubt it.

Thats Wasps and Bath out as well as the 4 Welsh regions. Leicester is the only other club I've seen linked to Halfpenny and that may just be BS in another fail article. May be squeeky bum time for Leigh coming soon.

I think Halfpenny is currently discovering that the same market forces that made him one of the best paid rugby players can turn against you. He probably should have signed for Wasps, but as it stands he will be scrabbling around soon for a contract.

Halfpenny was an exciting, fast, attack-orientated back and quite a clinical finisher on the wing before he was instructed to play one-dimensional Gatball at FB. I'm sure he could revert OK. He's still only 28 and has a few good years left in him. Perhaps adding bulk has taken just a slight edge off his gas.

Gatland uses him as a kicker, a tackler and catcher of high balls, thats it, any attacking skill he may have had has evaporated.
IMO Gatland has ruined Jamie Roberts as well, I remember him playing fullback for Cardiff and being quite a skillful player running with the ball, even sidestepping opponents, he's been programmed now to try and run through them, another wasted talent.

Halfpenny needs to tell his agent to do one, he's obviously priced his player out of the market, who wants to pay a fortune for a player who will spend months away with Wales.

So Bath have ruled themselves out. As things stand now, its not looking good for him unless he takes a significantly reduced salary somewhere else to re-establish himself.

What price a cheeky bid from the Dragons?

A good time for one of the Welsh teams to get him on the cheap, and seeing as he is away with Wales so much they could offer him a pay as you play contract. At the moment he's going to be kicking penalty goals by himself down at his local park, once the rugby season starts.

zero chance

since it would be WRU funded and the WRU have to provide funds to the 4 regions equally per the RSA, so the other 3 would also be entitled to cash equivalent of his salary

Whats worse for his carrer, a year out from rugby or a year at the Dragons? I'm not sure tbh

I'm hoping they improve this year now they have finally got rid of Kingsley, I've heard good things about Jackman.

It can't be much worse! We have some promising talent, a few decent experienced players and it has the makings of a tidy side.

Looks like halfpenny to Scarlets on a dual contract.

Whereas I am pleased by this if it comes off it seems odd after Pivac said they wouldn't be getting anyone else in, perhaps the South African money has swung it.

I hope that works out, although there seems still to be a lot of uncertainty. From Halfpenny's perspective, that's probably the best option for him to show that he can play attacking rugby.

Possibly. I suspect there is a sense of pressure to bring Halfpenny back to Wales, especially since he is now a bit cheaper than he would have been.
