Jim Thorpe

Despite attending college in the States I was only familiar with this guy for his legendary antics on the gridiron. Turns out there was a lot more to him that that, however. It should be noted, of course, that being the greatest athlete in America at the time does not by any stretch of the imagination make him the greatest athlete in the world of all time, as suggested here; especially given sport was still segregated in the US back then. Not that any of this was Jim Thorpe's fault.
