Not unusual for them to wander into villages in Cornwall and the likes, but first one I've seen in the Manc. environs.Huge too.
Could be the human shield thing.

Hehe.. reminds me of a bloke in my local, he had a young male badger which decided to move in under his big wood working shed, brought in the the local gamekeeper, our drinking buddy to trap and remove the badger...... badger had made several escape holes. 2am the guy hears a smashing noise... gets out in his garden to find his shed door being wrecked by a pissed off badger trying to get out, the badger hadn't fallen for the trap and came up straight through the shed wooden floor and smashed out via the shed door.. then proceeded to bugger off at his own pace
